Intermittent E-brake indicator

Sort of a weird problem here - my emergency brake light will turn on and off while I'm driving around, for no apparent reason. Not really a big deal, but sometimes those dash lights are a distraction.

Anyone experienced this?

That's a tell tale sign of low brake fluid in the master cylinder. Probably just needs topping off!

just add some fluid. You will notice it when you accelerate or are on an incline because the level of the fluid will be sitting funny in the resovoir.

eelung1, it does seem to happen more often when I accelerate, but I didn't really notice a pattern.

Thanks for the solution guys!

low brake fluid huh?

hey guys,

I've got the same issue with my '98 tacoma 4x4. I thought it was a loose sensor because it would only happen on inclines/acceleration. Thanks again fellas,

same thing...

was happenign to me in my '95 4Runner. Most of the time it would occur when I'd shift. When I had my car in the shop getting alligned I had them take a look and it was a result of low break fluid as previously posted.

it will most likley be the fluid and it needs to go to the top of the line not just up to the line , i had a problem with mine comming on at half glow intermittantly and once i toped the fluid up it was fine.
