Installed sylvania Silverstars, worth it!!
I just installed the silverstars on my '94 and am really glad that I did. They were very much brighter than my stock lights. I turned the lights on when I had one Silverstar and one stock light(sorry no pics) and there was a big difference. If anyone was thinking of doing this, do it. I was going to get the Cool Blues from Sylvania like I put on my 240sx but decided to try these. I may just switch out my Cool Blues and put some Silverstars on my 240 as well.

Try the Philips Vision Plus bulbs. They produce 50% more usuable light with the same wattage. You can get them from www.autolamps.com for $40 with free shipping or www.powerbulbs.com Both are very well known sites with good information. They are by far the best performance bulbs on the market. I have tried and reviewed many and these are nice. If you elect to buy Silverstars. Buy the Osram ones, not the Sylvania ones. Osram is the European company of Sylvania but the Osram Silverstars are a better and brighter bulb.

I'm going to get a wiring harness from www.autobulbdepot.com and then get some 90/130w bulbs from JC whitney.com. That'll be the brightest lights out there. Of course I'll make sure to aim them right. Don't want a ticket for too bright of lights

Salue, where did you get them at? Did you get them at Pep-Boys. I have been considering installing some Cool Blues, but if you think that these are better, I may put them in instead. Thanks. :fireman:

Stay away from "cool blues". They are junk. They may "appear" brighter when looking at them. But they are actually dimmer on the road. Also, Higher wattage bulbs don't always mean brighter. In fact. Putting that high of a wattage even with a larger harness will not last that long. The bulbs will probably only last about 100 hours. I know alot of you are looking for the brightest bulbs out there but should read up and ask before wasting hard earned money. If anyone has any questions about lighting, please email me.

I just looked at pics of your ride. You have H4 bulbs in your headlights?? I guess the 1st gens have the sealed beams. If you have H4s or other replacable bulbs you can get Philips bulbs from the sites I suggested earlier. Even better is that they are both located in England.

Ryan,
I got my Silverstars over at G.I. Joe's..I'm not sure if there's one near you. I really like them, and I think they are brighter than my Cool Blues I have on my Nissan. I was really impressed with the brightness over the stock 4runner's lights. So, I would suggest you get them if you want brighter. I was considering getting the Sylvania Xtra-vision lights but decided to try these. Not sure if the x-visions are brighter though, but they are significantly less expensive. As far as the Cool Blues, they are brighter than the stock lights in my '96 Nissan 240sx. So, even if you were to consider installing those in the runner, they would still be brighter than the stock ones....Just not as bright as the Silverstars.

H4 and 9003 are the same
When people talk about brightness....do they talk about how bright the headlights appear when looking into the lights or how much "usable" light the bulb puts out onto the road. They are two different things.
There seems to be alot of misconseption on some of the postings. I think I may do a write-up on lighting, bulbs, brightness and misconseptions on the subject. What do ya think?? I have extensive knowledge on vehicle lighting and maybe able to shed some light(excuse the pun)and quash some myths.
