Help installing my tundra springs
I installed my TRD Tundra springs on to my Bilstein struts today and The first one I did was fine but the second one I did I noticed the top-plate wasn't straight. The spring was also bowwed to one side. Looking straight down at the top plate I saw that the spring wasn't seated perfectly centered so I compressed the spring again and centered the spring best I could. I then released the spring compressors very evenly thinking that I may have took one off to fast causing the spring to bow but after they were off the spring is still bowwed. Can some please help me was plannig on doing my TRD lift tomorrow but I got to get this problem licked first.
by the way they are 4x4 TRD springs(yellow/yellow & yellow blue) and HD bilsteins BE5-2450 and tacoma top plates going on to my 99 4runner SR5

spring compressors can be tricky. are you using the wall mounted or something different? springs shouldn't bulge off of the compressor, that's not good at all. first things first, make sure they're on the right way directional wise.....take some pictures of the spring off of the compressor. if it's permanently bowed i would be hesitant on using it

Use four spring compressors. I borrowed them from Autozone, the cheapies that they rent out. Didn't trust them, so I used four. They were almost U shaped at full compression... ok well maybe not but it sure seemed like it.
Not only is it safer, but it allows more even compression and release of the spring. Good luck. I've done strut/spring swaps quite a few times and it always makes me sweat bullets.
