grrr.....going Zero to 70 in 1 seconds...damn speedo...

Well my dads 93 4Runner SR5 V6 3.slow is having some sort of issue that dates back to years ago.

(breaths in)

Dad took 4runner in for a routine tranny service in 95-96 (just t-tech oil change and the basics)...when he got it back the speedo and the RPM gauge would not move....he was also stuck in 1st gear (auto)....so he goes back to dealer˟˟˟˟ which then takes teh truck in for 1 week changes a bunch of ˟˟˟˟ and returns it to my dad....(they replaced the cluster which messed up his mialge now so he wasnt happy)....days latter it did it again and they blamed the ECU so they tried to get warrenty ECU but toyota declined saying that was a stupid reason to spend 1grand.... THe problem then went away after another oil change in the tranny...or so it seems!....

Now the speedo will work fine then you look down a couple mins later....zero....nothing.....to get it back you either have to go into 4wd or turn truck off and back on....or sometimes it will spurt back up.

What could be wrong? i am thinking the Speed Sensor is going....and there is no way he is taking it back to a dealer˟˟˟˟ ever again!

Thanks guys and nice to be back on the forum (havent been on in a couple mths)

It definitely is something to do with one of the speed sensors. On your year of truck, the two speed sensors are both on the tranny. Check their connections. It sounds like there is a short or a faulty connection.

Hheh yea it is a term commenly used by me and some others =]

as for the speed sensors....where are they located ont eh tranny i will take a look at them soon. I also thought it was some sort of wiring problem that the guys at the d˟˟˟˟ screwed with during the tranny oil replacment.
