Well, here is my opinion. That rust scares me. But then again, I am used to buying vehicles out here on the left coast where rust is only on toyota trucks . As for the price, I found a runner much nicer than that one with a BRAND NEW ENGINE for $8000.

I got my '97 4Runner Limited for $10K. 85K miles, no rust, small dent in front bumper, interior perfect. Good price?

I bought my '99 SR5 off of EBAY for only $10 Grand! And, before that I was about to buy a mint condition (and I mean beautiful) red 1995 with Old Man Emu shocks and springs, brand new BFG All Terrains, and perfectly clean interior. Auto Transmission and NO RUST and he was asking the same price of the one you are looking at which was fair for that truck, but not for the one you have shown. Don't buy it; save your money and maybe even do what I did. . . Go to EBAY and see what is out there. It cost me $500 to ship from the north Huston area to Denver. Not bad really. If you have any fears of buying on EBAY then I will be glad to talk to you about it and tell you all the things I did to make sure I was getting a good truck (and my truck is awesome and I have had several mechanics tell me the same thing).

Tell him $5000 FIRM is your best offer. Its a good truck and Allot of 4Runner's rot out on the back window. It was a design flaw, and they fixed that design in the later gens.

Go to http://alfaparts.net/toyota4r.htm and order there tailgate repair pannel for $90 bucks. Find a good body shop and have them install and paint the tailgate Shouldnt cost you more than $300 bucks and your good to go.

Heres a pic of the patch pannel

On a side note. Looks like that runner has a little Rear end Sag. Time for some better rear Coils, It'll probably need new shocks, and better tires
