Which fuel additive is worthy

I'm thinking of pouring in a bottle of Redline Fuel System Treatment after my next oil change. Has anyone tried this additive, or any additive thats similar; and what results did it give you as in performance wise?

fuel system treatment doesnt give better performance because of the additive itself containing miracle stuff... it cleans the crap off your current fuel system...

they are all pretty much the same... i run seafoam through the tank

I would suggest not using any as they can all cause deposit build ups on your plugs which will in turn limit spark, causing you to lose the horsepower, over time, that you were purchasing the additive for to start with.
The only thing that I have seen work is 100% pure grain alcohol.
That will both clean the internals, as well as the sparkers, and give you some ooomph, too.

http://www.bgprod.com/products/fuelair.html
http://www.bgprod.com/products/engineoil.html

After searching the net, people have nothing but good things to say about BG products. I herd about the brand but never cared that much about additives.
My brother works at high end Quick Lube shop and they carry BG stuff so he became interested and now says or believes their stuff works.
Ive never used any of it but i have a can of 44K that im going to try soon as i fill my tank next. If i notice anything, i'll keep you posted.

Redline is pretty good but it seems that it will have your engine running smooth only when it's in the tank. The affects don't seem to last long but they are definitely there.

Seafoam is good but it does not come close to Techtron. The Techtron will break your wallet but it's good stuff.

Every few months I run a bit of Seafoam through the fuel. After this last run my idle picked up considerably.I had to adjust it down one full turn.Is this normal? Who knows, but Im happy with the results Ive noticed over the past year or so.

Cool

Seafoam is good at cleaning stuff.

If you want gas mileage, 2-5oz of acetone per 10 gallons of gas is king. Lowers the surface tension of the gas. You get finer atomization from the injectors.

This 3vz-fe ES 300 gained roughly 2 mpg from it. The '99 4.6L F150 went from 17mph (avg) 19mpg (best ever seen) to 20mpg (avg) 22.5 (best ever seen). Mom's maxima went from getting 27 (avg) and 30 (when i drive it on long highway trips) to 31 (avg) and 35 (long trips). They all like different amounts from 2.5-4oz pe 10 gallons.

If you want to try this some things to note.
*This isn't a do it one tank and it'll get better, cause you probably won't get a good ratio to start with.
*you want 100% pure acetone. It doesn't matter if it's scented nail polish, or real, but make sure it is 100% pure.

If you buy a 1 gallon can of acetone for $10, it doesn't take a monumental improvement for it to pay for itself.

Advice or a little heads up to all who've posted in this thread and/or who've used "additives"... pull out your plugs and take a look at them and see if there are any deposits, then go from there.

Toysrme, Not knocking your aceton idea but just a warning to folks who don't know. Aceton is harmful to breath or even to get it on your skin. It is also so exsplosive that it's unstable. Good product when used right. Never tried in my gas tank and don't want to but it sounds like it works, Just be careful. Mike

I clean CPUs with acetone everyday and get it all over my hands and I'm not dead yet. Just dries out your skin.

Phorensic, Glad your not dead yet but that doesn't mean the stuff won't hurt you. Read what it say's on the can sometime. It's your body, do what you want to it. I could care less . Just trying to warn people who do care about what they breath and what they come in contact with.

I might as well go with Redline, since all of the additives you folks have spoken of, is almost non-existant down here or too expensive.

There are many additives down here, but they are so damn exspensive; compared to Redline's ($11 CDN)

So is it safe to use 100% pure grain alcohol to clean your system every once in a while?

Cool

Acetone is not something you want on your, or in your system.

It is an extremely strong solveant that is caustic. It will enter your system through your skin if left on it. It's... A little worse than clean gasoline, but not 1/2 as bad as methanol.

You're talking about being in contact with acetone for no longer than you are in contact with any other fuel system additive.
