fender trim question

Hey Toyota guru's
I have a 96 sr5 4runner with the basic chrome fender trim and no running boards. I got excited at the wreckers today when I saw a 2000 sr5 with the wide plastic fender trim(like the limited but with out the side door clading) and purchased it. The front fender trim bolts up nicely but the rear quarter panel and door piece don't line up as nice, not at all really. The biggest problem is really the door piece. With everything taped in place, when I open the rear doors the trim hangs past the edge of the door about 2". When i was looking at photos of other peoples rides some have a different style of fender where the door piece is actually smaller and the quarter panel one runs all the way down to the bottom of the truck instead of the joint between the door and quarter panel.

Heres the question

Has anyone else tried to add this trim package to their sr5 and what did they do about the door overhang?

I'm useless with posting pics on forums, maybe this will work.

I know what you mean by saying part of the rear door flares hang past about 2"..If you haven't gotten it yet, you need a metal bracket for each door side that attaches to the flares itself then you mount the assembled pieces to the doors..go back to the wreck yard and find the metal brackets..it might still be attached onto the truck. When I mounted the flares to my rig I didn't have these metal brackets to start with so I couldn't mount the rear flares..Toyota still sells them.

Check out the link below for my build Thread! I found a set of flares like yours in Colorado.

My brother is looking for the same set of flares,,mind If I ask where you got yours from?

I picked them up from south island import in nanaimo. They don't have any more sr5 flares but malahat auto has a good number of wrecked 3rd gens. I prefer to use south island over malahat because of the people that work there. I find that you have to work hard to barter the guys down at malahat. Have you had a look at alpis in chilliwack?
