Also, power calculations for a generator:

P=T x w

where P=power in watts, T=torque in N-m, w is angular velocity.

Since P=IV

IV=T x w

T=IV/w, and V is constant and w is constant. If the current draw goes up, the torque also goes up. This torque is transfered to the engine via the pulley, increasing gas consumption...
Well, it looks like I was wrong again, but that's why I didn't do so hot in my EE class I guess. Anyway, I'd like to see some numbers on the difference that a 40A draw would make in the overall efficiency of a gas engine. I seriously doubt that the difference would even be measurable in day-to-day driving conditions. Care to plug and chug for an example?

Has anyone done the fan conversion on the 3.4L. I have everything to do this swap (i.e fan, DC controller, made an aluminum shroud that mounts to the radiator). When the fan is attached to the shroud the water pump is in the way. I should have off set the fan from the water pump and I probably wouldn't have this problem. It is tight in there but I am sure it can be done. I havent heard of anyone doing this swap with the 3.4L. I am also adding a sensor to tell me the fan is turning. It should be cool when I am done, but right now it is a PITA!!!! I am also adding temp gauges under the stereo. Any help or tips will be appreciated.
