E-Locker axles
I just bought a complete e-locker rear end w/ABS out of a 2000 Tacoma. Its going to need some brake work so I was wondering if I could just swap the axles out of my 98 Tacoma non e-locker rear end w/o ABS. I'm not going to use the ABS so I was just curious if the fitment was different..Thanks

When my buddy swapped out his regular axle(99' non abs) for a TRD axle (01' abs) the axles were different. (shoulder closer to the backing plate/flange extended further down the shaft toward the 3rd member)
and seal on different areas of the axle shaft.
I do believe they are going to be different.
Would be less work/easier to swap over brakes, minus backing plates......which are the exact same as far as I could tell.
You might be able to get the ABS axle seal and make it work(goes inside the axle bore, instead of flush with the outer lip.)
They also have block off plates for the abs sensor that you could get from Toyota, for your new axle.
(for non abs vehicles, that came with late model TRD axles)

I was under the impression that the axles from non TRD and TRD were different. I broke my axleshaft a few years back, and if I remember correctly there were several different types depending.
Why not just swap your brake drums, shoes, mechanism to be on the safe side instead?
