Yes and no. In closed loop operation (where the O2 output is paid attention to) yes, the ecu would readjust. However for open loop (ignoring o2 sensor) operation the computer refrences tables based on the parameters given to it from, among other things, the VAFM...

Keep in mind that hte ECU will jump from closed loop to open loop whenever the throttle is pushed past 80% or so...

This is good to get some real world knowledge of 22RE power. I am curious to see what the header does....and really curious to see about gears. I have, headers, exhaust, hi-flow cat, 2.25 pipe, K&N FIPK, Nology wires and they all made a little gain. But the real gain came with the gears.

If you don't mind, try to track MPG throughout this so we can see how these mods affect efficiency. I know that was a big concern of mine while adding mods. I wanted power, but without losing efficiency. Thanks and awesoem work.

Those are actually pretty respectable numbers for an engine that has over 200,000 miles on it.
The 22R-Es were only 112 hp stock.

(still alittle lean for safe beatings) Only probblem is I don't drive it on the street at 5000 so I'm lean all the time I drive and at WOT.

Sooo
I cracked open the MAF and losened the sprocket up 2 clicks and it got alittle better.
Making another 4hp to the wheels and another 8ft/lbs. It's still on the lean side so I am going to bump fuel pressure up 7-10 lbs and see where that get the A/F ratio too.

Total #'s for 3rd gear is 87 hp @4500 and 116tq @ 3000.
For a gain of 6 more hp and 12 more ft./lbs. at the wheels everywhere. From 2000 to 5000 rpms nothing but gain.
Not to bad for a tune up and playing w/ the MAF alittle.
Now it's time for an adj. fuel pressure regulator and safer A/F ratio's.
C-YA!!

Did you do a real pull (4th gear)? If not, all you did was waste fuel.

Towed 1700lbs trailer up to MD over the weekend and got 15.8 MPG.
I'm getting about 17-19 mpg for around town driving.
I'm sure this will go down some when I bump up the A/F ratios.

dyno info

Hello, I am a student at a very highly regarded tech school. The school's graduates often end up in cup and pro-stock shops as engine builders. I will ask some of my instructors abought chassis dynos, so we can at least have the view of more than one experienced person on whats right. But regardless of what the gear ratios may be thier is always the saftey factor, and knoledge that virtuly no two dyno's will ever register the exact same. thanks for the information I am hopefully going to start testing a 22r in a month or two I will try and post my findings but it will probably clime out of the range that is useable in a 4x4.

THEN ALL YOUR RESULTS WILL BE INCORRECT. Funny how your "AREA" is different from the rest of the nation and world. People on this message board expect the newbs to search for info ( just ask Midiwall ) so when you post this wrong info. it just adds crap to someone's search results.

MDNT TOY~ You should do a run in fourth gear to see if it even has a significant change to the numbers. Then maybe people would leave it alone. I'm not at all knowledgable with dynos but I know I would at least want to do a run in 4th gear just for kicks and giggles.
