How about checking out your truck from the office 2nd floor window? It sure looks nice from above.

I guess that's why them birds like to ˟˟˟˟˟ on my truck!

I am guilty of being as sickly obsessed as all of you. Can't help it, just can't.

This is too funny. I have been doing this for years with all my cars. Not quite sure why...just making sure everything is ok I guess. I get it from the GF too. We went wheeling/camping this past weekend and we looked at the digi camera pics when we got back; about 85% of them were the truck. Ah well

Holy crap. Guilty on all counts.

At work last summer some of the women in my building had read in one of there womens magazine about how guys do stuff like this. So they started a little game. They kept score cards of guys who would check out there cars\rigs as they walked away from them. They did this for a month.
It was so damn funny when some of us guys got these score cards.
Apparently I scored average but I was given bonus points for getting under my rig. In the comment section of the card they were confused when a couple of us guys were standing around my rig and a buddys DC Taco. It explained that I had this yellow slinky thingy sticking out of the front bumper and my buddy was sticking it on his tire. They could not figure out what we were doing.
I laughed my ass off picturing this from there point of view.

ok how about when you first slapped the TJM or ARB bumper on. How many times did you open the front door to go out and check to see how awesome it looked?

I was blessed twice, b/c I got to do this with the rear bumper too

and my other favorite thing to do is when I see a completely stock 4runner. I point it out and laugh ... "look how tiny it looks, almost like a station wagon"

The funny thing is that besides looking at our own 4Runners, we even have the forum to look at other ones!

hahah. so true.

whats funny is, i often talk to other 4runner and taco owners at gas stations, etc. i talked to a guy at a red light in a mud covered taco who told me he'd been up to maine to go mudding on his stepfather's plot of land.

truck looked great dirty.. hahah.

<<my friends think I am obsessed, maybe I am?>>

The correct answer to this is "So?"

After 12yrs of ownership an image of my truck is so thoroughly burned into my brain that I don't even look at it when I put my key in the lock; it's all muscle memory
I'm selling my '85 Runner and finally gave it a quick wash over the weekend and I realized that it was the first time that I had really "LOOKED" at it in a really long time. At some point, somebody with weak forearms keyed it on the driver side rear quarter panel and only managed to leave metal marks on the paint. What a wuss. I found that I wasn't even very annoyed by it.
I suppose I would get ticked if they did it to my "new" '93, but I'm not sure even then. I lost the automobile fetish ages ago. They really are just machines. I want efficient, effective and reliable. That's why I bought a Toyota.
If it's eye-candy I need, I can just turn on The Man Show and watch women jumping on trampolines

I have actually turned the 4runner in front of the mirrored buildings to get a couple of different views to see how good it looks.

Well, if loving my 4runner is wrong, then I don't want to be right! I look at mine all the time, and also look at people walking past my 4runner to see if I can catch them checking mine out. Its seems even worse with my Land Cruiser. My garage opens right onto the sidewalk, and anybody walking by can see me pounding away at my mods. I've already had two or three people come in and just chat for a while, wanting to know what I'm planning to do to it.

This post really cracked me up. I've done all these! I thought I was the only one.. heh. I don't know how many times I've had my wife drive my truck so I can follow in her car and check out how cool it looked. In fact, I've absorbed endless jokes from her while checking out my rig while driving past windows... I don't feel so silly now.

so for the next one:

when you do pass a mirrored building, do you position the 4runner just right, then get out and pose next to it to see how good you both look? I don't but I was wondering how far people take it.
