A/C Compressors
I recently received some bad news from my mechanic after my A/C quit working in my 1993 4-Runner 4WD SR5. The mechanic's diagnosis from a leak test is that both my compressor and evaporator leak, so he recommended replacing the compressor, evap. dryer, and expansion valve.
The shop's estimated cost for repairs for parts and labor is $1600.
I've decided to replace the parts myself to save some cash, then have a qualified mechanic leak test and charge the system. I will keep the R12 system, because I like the temps.
I have priced new compressors and a new nippondenso is pricey at this time. I will not consider purchasing a remanufactured compressor.
Rather, I have considered purchasing a new Hancock (A/C Delco) or a Delphi compressor as these are much cheaper than the nippondenso.
Has anyone had any experiences with the Hancock (A/C Delco) or a Delphi ?
Thanks for the response.
