Buildup of 2nd Gen Runner on MOGs w/ Air Suspension (Pirate4x4)
Incredible buildup of a 4Runner on MOG 404's.
That thing is HUGE. Not necessarily built for crawling, but still an incredible amount of work and $$$$ sunk into it...
probally some language along the way - MAY NOT BE 100% WORK SAFE)

i've been following it for a while. lots of good, quality work has been put into that Runner. a crapload of money too... the unimog 404 axles are just plain sweet.

I think it is a real cool monster rock crawler and mud bogger (if he gets more HP somewhere). Those axles gives lots of rock clearance.

It would be sweet for a hardcore rock crawler...BUT he says in one of his posts that he is NOT building it to be a hardcore crawler. Nice work and all, but what's the point?

if i had a lot of money, a 2nd gen runner, and a desire to have a unstopable trail rig, i may do this, but i dont have that much money, and know that on yota axles you can make it almost unstoppable.
at least its not as bad as welding on coffe cans and bolting on wings and bodykits for a honda that make 70 hp.

Why not use them? I know people who have Mog's under thier trail rigs, and they are far from just a rockcrawler. Mog's are great because they get you really deep gearing, they come stock with selectable lockers, and have gob's of ground clearance. If you know where to look, you can find steering Mog's for about the same price as a Dana 60.

I have read every page of that thread while he was building it. He is building it more as an expedition rig that crawler.
The reason to use the MOG axles is the ground clearence and the strength. He sent them to some place in Canada and the put disc brakes on them and put in some really strong axle shafts. Those things are almost indestrucable!
He doesnt plan on keeping the 3.0L for long, he told me he plans on swapping in a 3.4L like mine.
