I just had my 22r3 clutch swapped on my 89 4runner. Protrux found out that the mid 90's 4bangers used a 6cyl flywheel and clucth (More surface and mass).

Since that 22re is no different than the earlier one like mine, they checked into why I couldn't use a V6 clutch and flywheel.

The outcome???? I now have a 3.0 clutch and flywheel on a 22re. No problems, better grip and longer life expectancy. Easy upgrade if you are planning on the swap anyway.
hope that helps.

I called JTO yesterday and got the ASCO clutch kit for my '90 4Runner for $119.95, plus $10 to ship to my door.

I think my local NAPA does, maybe schucks does too??? Or try a local auto repair place. I would guess it is $10-$20 off the truck, but don't know for sure.

May or may not help: I had a chevy flywheel resurfaced at a machine shop in Reno a few years back for 30 bucks. They cut off the ring gear also.

It was just a general machine shop they made aircraft parts and stuff, hence the cost??

The shop was cool though, the guy told me one of their big lathes was built in the 30's and is still in use. If anything wears out they just make the new part on-site

My local Checkers did the resufacing of flywheel for $15.00 compared to a Machine shop quote of $65.00.
