best or cheapest place buy cv joint axles half shafts 95+ tacoma
I broke an axle today. It must have just been weak or time for it to go. truck has 214K miles on it and the axles are probably stock (GKNA1). Anyway I called every place I could think of and these were the prices:
autozone $125 + $50
pepboys $99 + 100
advance $99 + 100
napa * not available
carquest * not available
O'reilly $83.99 + $100
I didn't try the dealer yet...
Anyway no one had them in stock and a few places didn't even have them at their warehouse. I was thinking that these parts would pretty common seeing as they fit a ton of years.
Since I'll have to order the axles from someone I may as well do it over the internet and avoid the 9.5% sales tax. Where should I go? I'm willing to pay up to around $125 (autozone price tag plus $50 core).
I have a 95.5 with manual hubs.

I don't live in a huge town but it has around 500,000 people and there are tons of smaller towns around that shop here.
Am I asking for the wrong thing?
I have been asking for the following, front axle assembly / half shafts or cv joints for a 1996 toyota tacoma 3.4 v6 auto trans manual hubs. Even though I have a 95 I figure it is easier to ask for the 96 because I think they are all the same from 95.5-2004 right? Other than add or manual...

Yeah I think you are correct about them being the same for those years. I think it is just because of the manual hubs. A lot more rare. They should still be able to order them and get them to you very quickly.

I can order them from a couple of the places...
What is the difference in the add axles and the manual? It looks as if the automatic driveshaft disengage axle is a bit longer inside the wheel hub and threaded on the outside only? Would it be possible to fit the add axle if one were to cut the threaded end off and drill and tap for the 12mm bolt? I don't plan on doing all of that but just wondering.

I ordered it from Autozone on Monday and they told me delivery was Tuesday at 1:30 pm. I called them several times and finally went back to get money back at around 8:30pm. I reordered through O'reilly on Tuesday night. They said I'd have it Friday...
I figured this would be an easy part to find so I took it off Sunday. Now my truck is up on jacks until I can get one. Lucky I have other transportation.
