backspacing and fender flares

Sliders are going on soon and I'm now thinking about my next project in the build. Looking to go to 285/75/16. I'm either going to use by LX450 wheels (16x8, 4.5 bs) or get new wheels. Right now I'm running 265/75/16 tires. I'm favoring new wheels to get a bit more a-arm clearance and slightly wider stance.

Right now I'm targeting procomps or MT Classic II. I need wheels that will fit over my Tundra brakes (199mm). It appears that the 16x8 ProComps with 4 inches of backspacing will work, but I'm not interested in having my wheels or tread extending outside of my limited style fender flares. I little sidewall going outside of the flares is OK.

After searching and searching, I see lots of thread on YT and elsewhere that suggest no extension past the fender flares or about an inch of extension past the fender flares. Does anyone have a definitive answer? Are there pics available that show the extension past the fender flares for 16x8 w/ 4 inches of backspacing?

By my math, if I go from 4.5 inches to 4 inches of backspacing this moves things out by a 1/2 inch. Then taking half the width difference of the 265 to 285 increase, tires will add about 0.4 inches outward. That makes a total of 0.9 inches wider than what I've got now. Seem right? If correct, my measuring shows the fronts without extension past the flare, but the rears are likely to go past the flare. Naturally, the specific tire will matter, but I'm looking at the big picture.

Thanks much for assistance.
