Well..I got a response from the man himself...VERY detailed too. I explained the situation and asked for his thoughts and if the pulley would be the solution.

There ya have it....... :pat:
I might assume that he's ordered one pulley for me, and it will be free?

Edit:
I shot him an email back asking if he thought the smaller pulley may "overspin" the alternator. I asked the cost, and If he could obtain two additional for you guys (if you want them).

FYI, www.hoalternators.com has 190 ampre units that are direct bolt ups for our 2nd gens. The only 2 drawbacks are the price and the 1000rpm cut off. However this alt is strong as hell!! Anything from about 1500-2000 rpm it gives FULL output.

ALSO, www.hoalternators.com has smaller pulleys for sale for our alts as well.

If you do go that route, be sure to mention me - im one of their sponsored competitors.

11/11/04 *Update*
I never did get a reply from him, so I'm not sure about any of his feelings. BUT, I got my new pulley (free) in the mail today and I'll let you know how it works when I get in installed.

I guess all of you are going to have to call him.

My alternator went out last weekend, i was goin to get a 150 amp, but the local auto electrice shop said its not a good idea. They said it wont be any good for "idle" charge, it will only charge when not idling. They rebuilt my stock one for 200 bux. plus boosted the amps to 120, and i still get my "low end" charge. So for it is working great, it powers my sub, high powered fog lights, reg. lights, and heater all at the same time with out my dash lights dimming. Before it was rebuilt theres no way that wouldve happened.

Awesome,
I had forgotten about this. I just moved a little out of town and now have a high speed commute into school everyday and haven't have any more battery problems but I do still have the a/c fan surge when I touch the pedal. Looks like I need to give him a call though. Awesome!

Neil... Did you ever install the pulley? How'd it work out?

I never heard from Tom last year and am wondering if I should bother to write him again.

Mark-
No, I never installed that pulley. I had the alt in and out so many times, I gave up on it. I have it around here somewhere, and if you want it, it's yours free.
