So I've run into a small problem with my 96 runner. The right side of the vehicle is between 1/2" to 3/4" higher than the left side. We recently did an upgrade to 99 springs and KYB monomax shocks. The vehicle had this problem before the upgrade and nothing changed afterwards. We've looked a half dozen times at all the suspension components and can't fine anything that jumps out at us. Recent things that have been done is a rear end swap to upgrade to an elocker and I also had the clutch done as well.

Final note I had a alignment after replacing the bushing in the steering rack and their were no issues as far as aligning all 4 tires. I also add that the vehicle tracks straight so no issues there as well.

The rear coils fit into a seat at the top. Make sure that they are seated. The bottoms also have a notch that the end of the coil goes into.

The front. The seats on the shocks must be correct. This is easy to get flipped and will lift the front. If one is right and one is wrong then you will have lift on the wrong side.

I watched them do the shock upgrade yesterday and everything was done correctly. I'm taking it in for an alignment so I'll have them double check and make sure that the springs and shocks are correct.

If the fronts look right then I would suspect the rears.

This is how the fronts should look. If you see more collar then it's upside down.

That is how the front looks. I'm thinking that it is something up with the way the rear coil is mounted on the right rear. Going to a suspension specialist in the next day or two and will post the final outcome.

sounds like "taco lean". i got it after i removed my sway bar. its happens to me when i swing into a parking spot smoothly and the suspension never rebounds to a level position.

find a level spot and break hard so the front dives and then rebounds back up forcefully , then measure. it will probably be much closer, but dont sweat it.

A quick update.

Took the 4runner in for a alignment and they corrected the tow on one side which seem to help. Had them do a little more of a inspection and it turns out a bolt was missing on the rear sway bar. So we fixed that. Finally fix to get the vehicle level all the way around was heat the passenger side rear spring and jack the driver side front up to put some weight on it. And Bingo vehicle is now level all the way around. In my conversation with one of the alignment guys he said it is pretty common for these rigs to be off a 1/4 to 1/2".
