93 22RE and thrust washers
We have a 93 22RE truck with approx 253,000 miles. Rebuilt at 190,000 miles with everything. Truck has been running EXTREMELY well until 2 weeks ago. When we depressed the clutch, the engine would stall. Lack of power when you could keep it running, and engine would run hot. Still, no water/oil mixture, excellent compression.
Couldn't figure it out, thought maybe the clutch was bad so pulled engine expecting to replace entire clutch assembly. HOWEVER, once inside, we found metal filings where the flywheel was scraping a bolt. Pulled the oil pan and found the thrust washers had come out, allowing movement in the crank.
Has anyone ever had this happen? If so, any suggestions as to why they would come loose within 60,000 miles? Toyotas are better than that!
Thanks
