4runner transfercase question
i have a 1997 4runner sr5 and a wrecked 1997 4runner limited..... i was just wondering if it is possible or how hard it would be to take the part time/fulltime transfercase out of the limited and install it in my sr5 so i had the full time 4wd?!?!?!?!?!
i have the whole intire donor vehicle but i wasn't sure how hard it was.... just 4wd ecu's or is there more to the full time system?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
thanks for your guys's input!!! you guys alwasy know everything

The '97 Limited just had a pushbutton on the side of the shifter to engage 4hi in the part-time transfer case. It does not have a differential in the T-case which would allow full-time use.

Could you? Yes. Will it take some rewiring and modification? Yes.
Since the SR5 is just a standard shift case, it doesn't have the wiring for the push button Tcase setup.
If your Tcase is ok, there is absolutely no reason to swap them. You won't be gaining AWD, you would only gain at most push button 4wd. The only thing different about it (besides being more expensive to fix) is one less click on the shifter. So really, zero advantage.
