Big difference for me from 265 to 285. Another good difference between alloys to steelies. No difference in acceleration from 285 steelies to 315 steelies. Only change I noticed was braking distance and decreased gas mileage and a smaller penis.

Climbed under tonight. Had a friend watch my tire. Jacked up one side and started. Rotated the driveshaft 41 to the tire 20. I guess my door panel is right, 4.10's. So...I supposed I'm clear to run 285's.

Do it. I counted mine and the door panel was wrong. I got 4.10's and love the 315's... so 285 is no problem.

Sweet. When I do upgrade to 4.56's in the rear, should I also upgrade to 4.56's up front?

What would happen if I had 4.56's in the back, 4.10's up front, and put it in 4WD? Anything tear apart?

unless you were in deep snow you'd def f- something up.
you can be off a % or 2, but not that much.
(ex 5.13's and 5.29's are ok)

Do you have a center differential?

If not, you will do one or more of the following.

1. Completely strip the gearing in your transfer case- WAY more expensive than a front re-gear.
2. Completely strip either the front or rear diff gears- Same cost as a regear.
3. Snap ujoints, axles, etc.- possibly cheaper than regear, unless you are completely stranded out somewhere, and have to get a tow.

I understand the need to do things on a budget. I'm sorry, but you simply CANNOT run different gear ratios. Suck it up and get both done, or leave both alone.

Yes, x1000 with what others have said...be sure to match both ft and rear w/ the same ratio.

if you cant get the front done, just dont even bother putting it in 4wd.

Neliconcept did that, except he bought an already setup 4.56 front diff and had to get the rear done, he just opted for a 4.56 arb from inchworm.

even though i do not like 4wparts, they do setup gears. but id look for a more professional shop around town that would be more reliable and has a better knowledge of r&p setups
