Anyone else interested in this deal?? I thought no one interested so I haven't check with my friend yet. THis is what I plan to do, I plan to take the engine, transfer case and tranny with all the neccessary wiring harness and ecu out of the front end so the shipping cost will be cheaper. With all these parts, you should be able to do a direct swap without worrying about the wiring problem. I plan to import them to Dallas, Tx or possibly san francisco, CA since I will be staying in Dallas when I go back, is easier for me to clear the custom that way. Let me know anyone else is seriously interested and I will check on it. Thanks!!

Thanks guys for letting us know the mpg of this engine. I really like the performance of this engine, especially cruising up the mountain at colorado, I can imagine that it will go up the hill with no hesitation, my V6 is so slow

I only need the engine, all wiring and intake/exhaust computer, fuel reltaed products, etc.

Does a 22re bellhousing bolt to the diesel engine, or would you need the diesel bell housing? I think I heard the you have to use the diesel bell housing, with the 22re trans....which is no good for me, because I am using the 22RTEC trans, and the pattern to mount the bell housing to the trans is the same as the v6, NOT the 22re, though it is a 22re trans. DOH

Honestly, I have no idea if the 22re bellhousing bolt to the diesel engine. That is why I am getting the engine with the tranny so you can do a direct swap without worrying about that. Are you talking about the v6 from a 2nd or 3rd gen runner?

all V6 manual transmissions from 88-95 have the same bellhousing-to-transmission bolt pattern. The reason I want to use my trans, is because I already have a Dual Transfer case setup, not to mention I paid ~500 for the turbo trans for the lower first gear. I dont want to get rid of that setup, i dont want a diesel THAT much heh. The turbo transmission has the same bellhousing-to-trans bolt pattern as the V6, but has a 22re style bellhousing-to-engine bolt pattern. (essentially you can use a v6 trans behind a 22re with this bellhousing, thou I dont think anyone would because of the chain drive tcase)

I run a Hilux Surf in the UK with this engine (None intercooled ) I average just under 25 mpg on my commute to work which involves lots of sitting about in traffic... on a clear sensible run 30 mpg may well be possible...

However the real saving comes from running it on vegetable oil which is about 70P a litre as opposed to £1.19/litre.

There is no noticeable lag, although you can definitely tell it’s a diesel!

Sorry guys, I did look into this engine and front clip 3 months ago when I was in Malaysia. I was told the EPA has restricted the importation of the front clip. Anyone know anything about that? And I sold my 4runner 2 years ago and working on my FZJ80 for the 1HD-FT transplant now. It can still be done if there is enough interest, most of the one I look at are 2nd gen 3.0 1KZTE front clip. I can probably still do it if there are enough interest in this clip, but it has to be the end of the year when I visit Japan or Malaysia again and personally pick those clip.

I would love to do a kzte swap, it would need to be a 3rd gen manual though. what diesels are offered in the later hilux's? those i guess could potentially work too.

I can't even get my hand on a 3rd gen especially the manual model. They just want to much for it. The engine is the same for both gen, the transmission may be a different. But I think you can use your current transmission with the correct bell housing. The later diesel is the 1KD-FTV, more $$$$ again. Hard to get and very pricey, probably around $10k or more.

a 2nd gen kzte intercooled would be very nice, and you could easily get it to the power level (in hp) that i have now.

I would have to regear though if i did this swap (hopefully one day).

does anybody know how hard the wiring would be to fit this bugger in? If i can get it to bolt up to my current transmission, i have the means for engine mounts and install.
