Cool, I thought it was auto-only for the double-cab again, but this says otherwise.

Yeah...but at least the "new" V6 is beefy. I think they're keeping the V8 with the Tundra only (in terms of trucks). I'm pretty sure they would have customers looking for the V8 though....

I don't think there's a need for one, esp. given current gas prices. Besides, from what I've heard the new V6 has plenty of pep (I think the Taco is lighter than the Runner). Yes, a V8 is better for towing but if you want to do heavy towing you need a full size truck anyway.

So by looking at the price break down it looks as if the long bed double cab is only offered in auto.

I saw that, but that seems to conflict with the other specs. I ordered a DC LB 6M/T and nobody said anything yet. That would be disappointing if it were restricted to the DC SB only.

Those '05 prices, when transferred over to Canadian dollars based on the CDN Dollar being worth 75 cents for every 1 american dollar, for the same models as the current gen (95-04), are lower than the current gen. For instance the current extracab 4x4 4 cyl (95-04) goes for about $30,000 MSRP Canadian funds. If you transfer the '05 Access cab 4x4 4 cyl (about 20,700 US funds) into Canadian dollars based on the above mentioned exchange, it comes out to $27,600 CDN funds. That is about 2500 bucks cheaper. And the '05 access cab 4x4 4 cyl as far as I know comes with standard air conditioning. The current gen does not.

looks like the 2.7 got VVT-i and a few more ponies(164), but at a higher rpm 5200 vs. 4800, and more torque 183, but at a lower 3800 vs. 4000, as you can tell I'm a 2.7 nut

Talking Dont Pay MSRP!

Hey everyone,

I have been in contact with many dealers in my area and Ive been getting all sorts of quotes and info. The latest I got was for a 2005 Tacoma - Double Cab - Auto - V6 - 4x4 - TRD Off Road #2 with Tow Hitch and Floor Mats.

Manuf. MSRP = 29,140.00
Written Quote = 26,819.00

Discount = $2321.00 !!!

WOW, and the truck isnt even hitting till 1st week of Nov!

Just wanted to post this as a note that if all of us potential 05 buyers as a notice that maybe if we hold off a little bit and refuse to pay MSRP, the dealers may be ready to deal off the bat.

Hope this gives everyone some hope!
