2 questions taco guys.....

*1996 tacoma std. cab 4cly 2.7 5peed 4x4 68,000miles non-ABS*

I have a slight rattle somewhere in my steering column It sounds like slop in the shaft but haven't found anything. I only hear it when i drive on gravel at a slow speed, I was wondering if there is something that is notorious for going or or rattling anywhere in the steering system?

The other question has to do with the brake light on the dash (dummy light). It comes on mometarilly when I use the brakes and around corners more so, if that is possible. The light turns on and always shuts off a few seconds later. I don't have ABS so it should make this simpler, I wanted to know what causes the light to come on and what to check or look for.

Hope to hear from ya'll

as far as i know there is not any common problems with the taco/3rd gen runner steering, jack one wheel off the ground at at time and grab it at 3 and 9 o'clock, and try to wiggle, there should be no slop, and also grab it at 12 and 6 o'clock and do the same thing.
check your brake fluid level, i bet that its low causing the light to come on around turns and bumps

Might wanna check for play in the steering rack (I think that's what it's called; near your CVs), maybe it's time to replace those bushings.

As for the brake fluid, I concur with Joe's assessment, check your fluid levels. It happened a couple times on my Taco and filled it to the level and it was good to go!
