1998 Tacoma Problem: Hubs?
Hi all, long time no hear.
Anyway, so last night I took a 6-hour roadtrip in the 98, coming off the freeway I hear this noise, sounds almost like a rock in the brake rotor. As I get closer to home the noise gets worse but only at low speeds. Kind of comes and goes like when rolling slowly: grind-normal-grind-normal.
Heres the kicker: lock in the hubs, no grinding. Drives perfect. So I'm assuming my hubs are somehow messed up and staying halfway locked (manual hubs btw both were fully at "Free"). My question is does the sound right, and if so how would I go about fixing them and did I do any major damage?

I have been wanting to rebuild mine and I have heard that the dealer has rebuild kits for them with new seals and stuff here are some links on how to rebuild them:

Let us know what you figure out. I had an intermittent squeaking come from mine once, but after just messing with them I got them to fully disengage. I really should rebuild mine soon..
