'03 with silverstars.....

Has anybody installed silverstars in an '03 yet? I have been debating on doing it mainly because the lights are already so good. I was just curious if anybody had done it and if it was worht the $$ as far as a noticeable difference.

I installed some silverstars in my black 03. It did make a noticeable difference when i drive at night. The road seems to be illuminated much better. I also can see the difference between the stock bulbs and the silverstars; the stock look yellow compared to the silverstars. Don't get me wrong, the new bulbs won't be mistaken for HID's or the cheapo bluish xenons, but they do make a difference, if not a subtle one.

..hope this helps..

Cool. That is what I was wondering. I knew they had to be a better quality that all those cheap blue bulbs. Since they are on the expensive side, I just wanted to make sure somebody had tried them in an '03 and liked'em. I take it you replaced the 2 low beam bulbs and the 2 high beam bulbs, but did you replace the 2 fog light bulbs with them? Thanks for your help.

I didn't replace the foglights. I didn't know silverstars were available for those lights-are they? and if so, what size? thanks.

I am looking in the manual and here is what is has listed. (let me know if these are what you have)

Headlight (high beam) - 9005 - 60W - (HB3 halogen bulb)
Headlight (high & low beam) - 9006 - 51W - (HB4 halogen bulb)
Front Fog Lights - 9006 - 51W - (HB4 halogen bulb)

I take it you used the 9005 & 9006 as your four bulbs, is that right? I guess I will be looking at around $120 for the entire set.....ouch. I'll have to save up for a couple of weeks, instead of going in all at once. That would be hard to get by the Mrs......lol

Did you ever get the Silverstars for your fogs? I was just curious how they turned out.

At Autozone they are $19 a piece. I actually just bought some about an hour ago. After I finish a little work I am going to intall them. I only got the low beam bulbs to try out before I get all of them. If they look good, I will put them in the high beams as well as the fog lights. I will post some pics later on.

Momo,

Actually, I haven't installed silverstar foglights...I've been saving up for a PC and some pads instead. Man, that stuff really adds up! Now I'm just waiting for a nice dry day to try my new toy out.

Hehe...sorry, when I typed "PC" I meant Porter Cable polisher/buffer and the pads that I bought through Classic Motoring Accessories. It's been raining off and on the past week, so I haven't been able to try it out. As for the silverstars, do you plan on buying another set for the foglights?

Btw, that Mac Titanium paired with a 17" monitor is one of the coolest looking computers out there! I'm jealous!

I think I will get two more sets. One set for the high beams and another for the fogs. It is finally dark, so here is a shot on my garage door.

Before I put the bulb in the other side, I tried it in the fog to see what it was like. I think it looks really good. It has a really nice, clean, white light. I had tried other bulbs in my last car, but i thought they looked too bluse and didn't want to be considered and Fast and Furious kid.

Here is what it looks like with Silverstars in the lows and fogs. The picture doesn't really do it justice.

No, there's no need to upgrade the headlight wire harness. The wattage of the silverstar bulb are identical to the stock bulbs. That's one reason I bought silverstars-I didn't want to have to mess with any of the harnesses/wiring.

Actually, the stock low beams and fogs are 51W and the corresponing Silverstars are 55W. I don't think it is that big of a difference, but then again I am not an expert. I really don't want to get into all the switching of the harnesses if I don't have to. Keisur, do you think I would need to for that little of a difference.

I did notice the harness in place if I ever decide to add daytime running lights.

I'd be talking outta my azz if I said 'yes.' but I do know that alot of people upgrade the harness even for the factory lights to get better lighting, from what I hear. There is a thread somewhere here, maybe a week or so back, that discussed that this is the single best way to gain better lighting and it also improves the lighting in the higher end bulbs such as the silverstars and the piaa's. just relaying info I gathered from that thread is all though. I plan on upgrading the harness first and seeing what kind of improvement I get. right now all I am using is the sylvania h4's hb's or something like that. I think the are the ones that are supposed to be brighter than the regular sylv. h4's. but they are a markable increase over the stock bulbs with a whiter light and brighter, or seemingly so anyway. and that is with the stock harness. I did notice while installing my LightForce 170's the other day that the stock harness is somewhat wimpy. I didn't run the LF's through the harness though, I direct wired them so I can operate them as I wish with no key and no headlamps.
