'03 Maplight / roof console removal?!
Anybody actually remove the maplight/roof console box assy on the '03 Runner yet?
I have the manual pages 76-45 and 76-46, but those darn claws are a beatch to remove? Does it need a special 'moulding remover'?
I want to wire up a new mirror, and maybe try and install a radar detector, or something else inside that area. The under hang of the console box to the windscreen is enough to get a reasonable sense zone.
Thanks for any help.
Mark.

Hi Impulsebrkln,
Which way did you find works best, straight down, side by side. Should I pry the widscreen side first or the roof center side.
Is it just a hard tug?

since none of us have removed that part of our 4runner i don't think anyone's gonna be able to help ya out...
if you know what the tabs look like, it'll give u some idea on how to remove it. also the svc manual should tell u what the tabs look like so you can see if you can use a philips or something to pry it off.
good luck!

darkstar thats one of the few things i havent removed but ive found interior pieces need a good even amount of pressure to remove most items for the first time. Chris

Sussed it. Boy, it really needs some muscle to pull that thing out. You need to force/lever the windshield side first, then the car interior side. All the homelink mountings are there for the adventurous to add in this function.
Radar detector would fit in here, but it would have to be a small one.
Pictures available on demand.
Now I just need to find a good BATT and IGN signal wire from the light / fuse box.
