I got the down pipe done today. Race metal smiths made the flange so i drove the 4runner down there and we worked on placement and im happy with the way it came out. now i need longer studs to go into the turbo

If the weather is nice this week im going to mock up the exhaust going with 2.5" all the way with a flowmaster

figured it was time to do something about the excess wiring becides push it out of the way. Here is the mess of unneeded wires.

And here is what im left with

Im kind of confused why the knock sensor goes into the main wiring harness?? I figured it would go to the computer and im not sure what this connector is I always find it tucked between the head and intake and its never hooked up just coiled and taped:

Why did you choose that engine over any others? Just wondering, ive spent more time around isuzu's and cummins, That would of been my choice.

And i guess its a little late but you could of just used spacers on your hood hindges. Kinda like what all the ricers do when they swap engines?

I picked the motor because its known for haveing a long life span and a replacement motor is cheap, finding one in a rotted out cat for 500 is common around the north east you can sell the trans for 300 and scrap the rest for 200 so the motor is free. I had a coworker give me a car that was sitting on his property that someone left there. So I ended up with a free spare motor and 500 in my pocket, also parts are reasonable over at mercedes source.

I think the bump in the valve cover is too far down I would have to lift it 6" or better

I thought about that and the only place i could find one was toyota fiberglass and i dont like the look of that one because it had a second bump up. I also thought about cutting the center bump up out of annother hood and making my own.

Got some more done over the past few nights. I didnt like the upper coolant path and it was leaking so i reworked it.
much happier with this set up.

I had to tap the intake for the boost gauge

The water temp sensor bung that came with the kit threaded perfectly into the merc temp sensor hole

I only mounted the starter selnois for the glow plugs only because i noticed that i could use factory holes to mount it.

I also got the fan and t-stat temp probe mounted

How are you wiring the glow plugs. Im assuming your wiring them into the ignition. Or are you using a momentary push button switch on start up?

The reason im asking is im really thinking about planting a isuzu into my truck when the 22re goes.

Just reporting some progress I still need to ground the selnoid and run the push button wires for the starter but most on the set up lives on the driver side inner fenderwell

I hunted in home depot/ lowes/ and most of the auto part stores but i foind the best slection of 12V stuff at the west marine really good prices on battery switches too.

Who is the mayor of happy town? This guy! With some trimming i got the toyota aternator to fit in the stock mercedes bracket with the stock mercedes belt but i could only use one belt but im going to look into making a two belt pulley for the toyota alternator.

I also got the boost and oil gauges plumbed in I just retapped the boost gauge hole and the oil pressure gauge is the stock mercedes tube on the filter housing side and 1/8" tubing that came with the kit on the other side connected by an 1/8 to 1/4 tubing adapter

Also got the water temp sensor installed

Dude this is sick! My 4Runner is smog exempt here in California (long story) and a diesel swap is in my "someday" list. You're the first I've seen use the 300D and I'm pleased My buddy had a 1980 300SD and man that thing was rock solid! Can you post a vid of how it sounds with the Flow?
