yeah! talking about working on a budget? haha I just painted my stock alloy wheels and $12 was all I needed hahaha can't justify spending money on sthetics when there are more important things to do to it
yea i guess ur right about the bed i didnt think of that. But yea the whole workin on a budget thing is how im havin to go about it now that im having the motor rebuilt. I may have a someone who can paint it for pretty cheap, but who knows, i may break out the rattle can on it haha

well i had a pretty successful day at the junkyard this morning. i was going to look about a flat bed for my dads 86 but since we were there i decided to check out some trucks they had there. come across a dome light cover since mine was missing, a gear indicator piece with so wear, a factory sr5 dash clock, and a sr5 gauge cluster. scored all this for 20 bucks. there were several sr5 clusters but i made sure to get one from a 22re to avoid having to adjust the tach. the odometer is only off by 6k miles but maybe i can adjust it. also ordered some bushings to tighten the gear shifter.cant wait to put this stuff in.

my gear shifter has been really loose and wobly ever since i bought my truck and seems to be a common problem for the older auto's so i searched around and found some bushings that go where the handle pivots under the shift plate. they were part #90385-11003 for anyone interested in fixing theirs. it wasnt too hard to install them, just a little tedious since theres not much room to work. but once i got them in it is now 100% better. no play at all in the shifter and shifts like new again. best $2 ive spent yet

got around to installing my what-not stuff today (gauges, clock, gear indicator, etc.) Once i installed the cluster all my dummy lights worked as they should when i turned the key on, but when i started it the tach didnt work. my battery is weak from where i havent driven it in a few weeks so it took a min to crank. so i ran a wire from the 'p' terminal on the back side to the negative terminal on the coil and when i went to start it it wouldnt turn over so it looks like im gonna need another battery. hopefully this wire fixes my tach.

also when i started it the first time the fuel guage went all the way up past full? will this adjust once its driven? same thing happened in my dads 86. anybody know why this happens??

but im very happy with how my interior is turning out. i think im done other than some new door handles. anyway enough rambling, heres a pic.

Man that looks like a sweet set up! With the Zuk mod, what is the bottom of the spring seated on?

Looking good! I say rattle can that sum beech. I've seen some nice paint jobs with it as long as you take the time to do the right prep work

thanks for the compliments guys!

robertburchell4, the coils are set between the bumpstops so they dont slip out. with being cut to 14", they were pretty tough to get in even with 2 spring compressors so theyre no going anywhere

fordfanatic27, yea i jus come across 1 thing at a time it seems and over time i eventually got almost everything i need.

convertedyotaman, rattle can has definitely been a thought. my only concern is where the clear is peeling off on the cab, im not exactly sure how to prep it where i can get a smooth coat. seems like id have to do some pretty heavy sanding, but then again ive never painted a whole car....yet lol

I would think going from 80 grit to 240 would get you there pretty quick. Hell even 80 to 180.
