megaez's 1992 4Runner Re/Build-Up
Welp here we go.. tl;dr
(also sorry for no pics yet, I'll take some new ones tomorrow)
This is the first time I've posted on this forum although I've been lurking here for years just waiting for a chance to do something with my 3.slow. Now, 6 years after I bought my 1992 4Runner I finally have the time needed to get this beast back in working order.
Originally started work on it to replace the clutch, but after about 2 days of laying underneath it trying to get the transmission out I have decided to do a hell of a lot more. One of the reasons for this was I found out that the transmission was replaced before, used to be an automatic, the wiring harness wasn't connected to half the sensors underneath, and the engine leaks oil like crazy.
A little back story, bought the 4runner when I was 18 my senior year in high school. Before that I drove my dads old 1990 4runner until the sway bar broke leading to the rear axle cracking leaving it parked and used for parts. (may part it out after I finish with my 4runner) So my dad had another 2000 4runner, and now a Sequoia. Anyways.. I've been around them for a long time and ˟˟˟˟˟˟ing love them. Now, I'm about to graduate from grad school and need something to do while I finish up my last few classes, hence rebuilding the 4runner.
So here's a list of a few things needing fixing..
1. Clutch
2. CV Boots
3. Rebuild Engine
-bore out
-new headers
-new air intake system
4. New Exhaust
5. Replace wiring harness
-fix ghetto rigging for 4WD
-get back up lights working
6. fix/clean out cooling system
7. paint throttle body and valve covers
^ These need to be done by March 8th so I have time to make sure it all works before road tripping to Albuquerque.
At some point I want to:
1. lift
2. new guard
3. new bumpers
4. fix body a bit
This is mostly for collecting my thoughts and keeping me on track. Plus feedback from you guys would be excellent, seeing how this is my first major car work done myself. Also, I'll probably be asking a lot of questions about different products, how-to sorta things.. I'll post links on here to the portions of the forums they are in.

Just a heads up, I'm looking at getting headers, exhaust, intake system, and the rebuild kit from LCE. Anyone got input on any of these good or bad? Seen some others use the headers but not sure about the other things.
Headers:
http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...0-BD3461454C49
-Also anyone know if the crossover version is just for lifted vehicles?
Exhaust:
http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...8-A94631C5D26C
Intake:
http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...D-2E4B7453D8A7
Rebuild Kit:
http://www.toyotacatalog.net/M1WebGe...5-51C465CC9574
-Anyone use or know if the rebuild kit actually has all the gaskets and seals?

Sorry for the long delay guys.. here's what I've been up to.
Got the Yota inside and started getting busy..
Took out the front diff and the CV joints, besides the wiring being completely ghetto I wanted to figure out why it wasn't working very well.
This is why..
Starting to take them apart
After the tranny was out
˟˟˟˟ty cutting job and more ˟˟˟˟ty wiring from the previous owner
More ˟˟˟˟ty wiring..
Also pretty sure this isn't supposed to be like this
Here is a pic of the crossover I'll be taking out thanks to new LCE headers that will be arriving tomorrow.
Before:
After:
More pics to come once I rip into all the toys I ordered from LCE. Let me know what you guys think..

Will update soon with the new parts I've gotten, but so far the engine is at the machinist (hopefully get it back tomorrow or monday), meanwhile I've been doing other things but have a question about the wiring harness posted here:
