Johnny5's 1992 4Runner/Hilux Surf Build-Up Thread
This is my 1992 2L-TE. Right now she sits at about 145,000km bought it with 89,00km. I like the new black paint job but it sure gets dirty fast. Up front are three princess auto halogen lamp 100w each. I think they were $15 a piece and they put out an amazing amount of light. Sunroof deflector was picked up a pick and pull for $5 and I found a rear spoiler the other day for $15. I'm hoping it will stop some of the spray from getting onto the back window.
I bought these seats from a guy in Edmonton for $350, spent about 10 hours rewiring them as the controls used to be on the other vehicles doors. Spent about another 10 hours making new brackets. They sit about 3'' higher which is fine for me and I like being able to see more road but it's somewhat of pain getting in and out.
CB radio in place of the ashtray. Pretty easy mod and this model fits perfectly.
This is my upgraded headlight and spotlight relay station. The outs to the headlights is #10 Monster speaker wire which is double insulated and perfect for this application. Also found at Princess Auto for cheap. If you ever do this mod, you might laugh at how small the factory wire is to the headlights.
Vacuum powered cruise control.
This is the bypass filter from Australia. I'm on my third filter, trying out a toilet paper roll for the first time. I love being able to change a filter with a 19mm wrench and a $1.00 roll of bum wipe. Plus not having to drain the oil every time is a major bonus.
Mile marker manual hubs. I would recommend them as long as you find something other than the locking tabs which are bent over the 12mm nut. They will come loose and make you angry.
I recently ordered a 4'' suspension kit from Toyota of Dallas along with a bunch of drop brackets from 4crawler.com

A few more pics before the lift is installed
The upper A Arm is trimmed to fit the 1.5'' SDORI ball joint spacers
Showing how much is trimmed off.
Ball joint spacer installed.
Yay! New shocks!
Diff and swaybar drop kit from 4Crawler
Diff spacers installed
Yay new steering stabilizer, the factory one is a joke.
I opted to not use the 2'' coil spacers as the new coils added just over 3 inches of lift be themselves.
