I love those panels too. I can't remember if he used aluminum or rubber tread plate. Big Lots sells a roll of black rubber tread plate floor for $20 for about 4'x 5' of it. I always thought it would be great for door panels with a thin plywood behind it for structure.

I noticed you were getting quotes from Maaco. Mines at Maaco now. A bit of advice is to take off all the chrome, all the emblems, the license plates, the top, the grill, the tail lights and the antenna yourself. I took off the gas door, valence and cowl grill to be painted separately. I'm glad I took off the cowl because there was a ton of leaves down in there. I drove it down there and took the tail lights, corner lights and soft top plus all its hardware in their lot. I noticed that my local Maaco takes off emblems but leaves the glue on the cars and paints right over it. That's a potential for peeling. I also washed it with Dawn detergent and steel wool the day before dropping it. I got the Urethane paint which is single stage with clear coat mixed in. The original paint on it was single stage. Because they are running the $299 special right now they gave me $150 off so it's only $799.

I like your bumper!!!!

Yea, my Maaco was going to charge me a lot more than that and frankly, don't really think it needs a professional paint job. It is my first car, and I want it to look nice, but I can't justify $800 on a paint job. That's why I hope to do it myself this week and make it look semi-decent.

So my Amazon packages with my POR 15, UPOL Raptor liner, and other materialis and equipment finally showed up today...

Right now I'm working to get all of those pesky stripes off. Even with the eraser wheel, they still seem to take forever.

I'll update after all the stripes are off.

Do you have access to a power washer, and not an electric one? The TRD decals on my sons Tacoma came off easily but then we had glue to contend with. Goof Off got that off. Those decals were only 16 years old though.

I don't have one, but after a few hours of pure eraser and drill power, all of those stripes are gone! It almost makes me sad to see them go but I know it will be worth it in the end.

The wheel wells have also been finished with welding, bondo, and primer, but pictures will have to wait until tomorrow because it gets dark to quick around here. I'll try to finish getting the interior out for the paint that is soon to come and finish all the bodywork that is left in order to paint on Wednesday or Thursday. It's now just a matter of being pacient and diligent now...
