oh well...at least it keeps you entertained..lol
I'm thinking having the exhaust dumped at the manifold is partly to blame as well as some distortion.

Sorry for the lack of updates but I've been busy working on the truck. The dash is back in and I just ordered several more parts..just seems like everybody wants me to work on their stuff now. Everything seems to be working like I wanted...check engine light, clutch start cancel switch etc etc

Nice! I just bought a 2002 Camaro z28 to steal the LS1 and put it in my '86 4runner. I have a bunch of questions I want to ask you!
Since the transmission is sitting back 3.5", are you going to have to do custom driveshafts?
Also, what motor mounts did you use? I was assuming that I would have to go custom, but if there is something out there that works, I would love to hear about it.
Also interested in what radiator you're using. I hoped I might fit the Camaro radiator in mine, but it's pretty wide. It's short enough that it can sit above the frame rails though.
Also interested in what headers you're running.
Let me know.

Yes the rear driveshaft will need to be shortened. The front one is still connected but I question the amount of spline engagement so it will be lengthened. I'm using mounts from advance adapters for a 350 along with dirty dingo conversion slider mounts to make it fit a LS style engine. My radiator is from be cool for a 350 as well. I'm using manifolds on my truck...hooker lsx conversion manifolds...they fit the closest from what i could tell, their dimensions were very helpful.

Before anyone asks...I'm still running the factory fuel pump. I compared specs for the truck the engine came out of and the stock toyota pump and best I could tell it's sufficient.

On the fuel pump...Im running a 4.3 cpi on my 87 truck and im stickin with the stock gm pump. Im curious to see how yours handles the stock toy pump. Lookin good the way.

Love the build, I'm actually using the same engine in mine.
Can you see it fitting without the body lift? I'm doing a SAS at the same time, and using an F body oil pan, so my bottom end will be good. Most of what I've read has been transmission fitment, in using a 4L60, which I am.
What can you tell me about flashing the ECM to run as a standalone?

Just stumbled across your thread. I'm currently in the process of doing a LS1 swap into a 1991 v6 4runner. Just wondering if you would be able to post up a few photos of your sump and gearbox crossmember? I presume the C6 sump you use required no trimming and you haven't spaced the front diff down at all? I've currently got a GTO front sump on my doner engine which I'm debating whether to modify

Lately I've been wanting to swap a 5.3 into my 86 2wd. Is a body lift necessary on a 2wd, or does not having to clear a front diff allow the motor to sit lower and provide necessary clearance? Or is trans clearance the only issue in my case? As much as I'd like a manual I'd probably go with a 4L60E, but I'm curious how a T56 or even some sort of a 5 speed would fit.
