Here's a pic I found online , describing what I suggested. By boxing in your exposed frame you ...
A. Strengthen your rear frame
B. Get a rear bumper lol ( Atleast in my case after the bob )
C. In your case can weld your shackle mounts vertical to allow longer springs.
I used exactly what they suggested in the pic to box my frame after my bob. 2x3x.25" rectangle tube. I slid the tube into the frame opening and welded shut. Looks like in the pic he just butted it up against the frame ends and welded either way I'm sure is strong if your welds are good. Then weld your new shackle mounts to the rear vetical. Atleast its a option at this point with minimal fab.
I'd clamp on your front spring hanger and throw a bolt through it with a 63 on it and pull it back to see where about your shackle angle would be. I bet your in the 25-45* area. Ofcourse you still have to factor in what your shackle length and pinion angle is gonna be with this set up. But it is very common to see this set up with bobbed beds and cut frames.

cool, i like that, i have the old bumper i was gonna trim down a bit (lighten it up and lose some cancer) and put back on, but i guess it could always bolt on over that new crossmember

cool maybe in the next few weeks i might be able to take a day trip. i've been learning alot wrenching on things at pick n pull, and when i need something i at least get a trial run at taking it apart before i do it on my own rig lol.
