yodercrawler55's 85 4Runner build up thread
Alright I figured I would start this thread next week but im way too pumped. So the plan is to build an outer roll cage for the front cab area then have it go into the back outer shell. I could care less about protecting the shell, it usually is off when wheelin. I already have my front and rear bumpers ready and sliders are all set in place also. Also will have some pics for re designing the back area of the runner. No one has wrote up how to fab and switch the rear seat out so I am up to the task, fun fun!

Got rid of the km2's and got a little more aggressive tires from work, set of 34x10.50x15 LTB's. Its a crappy phone pic, also picked up plates from my neighbor to move the axle forward an inch, he is also giving me a high steer kit fer free

If anyone can post up links for bobbing and dovetailing the 4runners that would be sweet. Cutting and rolling my fenders today then possibly popping the top off and start marking for bobbing.

I really want to see this. A bobbed and tailed 'runner intrigues the heck out of me. I like where this is going. Take LOTS of pics!

I am going to do the 13.5" bobb on the 4runner. Talked to frontier 4x4 on pirate and he said that the 13.5" is from the length of the sliding glass on the inside. Here is without the top today.

Finished most of the bobb just have to put some paint and herculiner next week and it will be good to go. The only thing is the tailgate can not go on any more, I may just put a pickup one on if I can find one. If anyone knows how to enlarge the pics be my guest.

Also for anyone that is in the state I have a trailgear rear bumper I dont need anymore so I would consider cash or trade for a set of doors and a 85 pickup tailgate.

Traded my tg rear bumper for a tailgate and IFS box, now I can start my crossover. Just have to order up some seals and tg mounting bracket for the box. Ill have to buy some metal for the new rear bumper so that way I can retro fit the new tailgate.

Finally slapped on some herculiner today to hide the bobb job and also got some metal for the inside panels. Metal is pretty spendy so im gonna keep my eye out for bumper metal, going with 3/16" just like my front bumper.

I had a nelectrical fire today, my stereo wire that was directly wired to my stereo some how got pinched between the valve cover when I put it on last. I loostened the nuts on the valve cover to slide it out from underneath. When I did that there was sparks then the wire caught on fire from the battery and started working its way to the direction of the stereo! thank god im a quick thinker, grabbed the wire cutters and hacked the wire before it spread any farther, there was soo much smoke!

Update, ordering up some wagoneer springs through work this month and hopefully getting a crossover kit. Im going to do some fiberglass work this weekend. Bought another top for 10 bucks and im going to cut the top out and use it to enclose the back of the new shell and make a port hole type window so i can see out the back.
