Got a donor truck... $400. Runs and drives still.
Front end collision... Owner knew nothing about toyota's or cars in general and just wanted to get rid of it.
thats right... 22RTE. Fires right up. Only damage was to the radiator.
Gonna swap the seats (...like sitting on a marshmellow.) and dashboard to make the wiring easier.
Got a little building done as well.... The second shackle is just temporary, I bought them for the front. I'll make some at work later this week.
Took measurements from the bed mounts to hang a plum bob and get the axle centered in the fenders.
Just welded the hangars on the ends for now incase they need more adjustments once the body and bed are on.
Anyone want a 20R with a full tune up and rebuilt carb?
Everyone who walks up tells me I need to strap some seats on and have at it...
Will tackle the front end this weekend. Would like to get the hangar welded and springs installed before Sunday is up.

Just as an update, i swear I haven't been slacking off
Been busy with work and youth ministry which leaves barely enough time to work on the truck, let alone photograph everything. I'll hopefully post up some pics tomorrow.
Got the motor mounted, shock hoops hung and gusseted, front spring hangar welded, waiting on conical washers for the crossover arms. Pulled the bed and cab off the 2WD, started fabbing the rear shock tower tonight. Lots of other stuff I'm sure but thats off the top of my head. Thinking about picking up a W56 before I put the cab on. It would make the shifter situation easier since as it sits with the 4spd I'll have to bend the gear lever some since it will come through the floorboards about 4" forward of stock.
I thought about doing a SAS and 4x4 swap on the 2wd truck but it doesn't seem worth the effort. Plus I want the std cab wheelbase. I'll only loose about 8in out of the shortbox when i bob the front of it.

Picture time!
So, I guess i never updated ya'll but changed plans from using the red 79 std cab to using the 86 ext turbo cab. Its just too nice to pass up and I love the look and function of ext cabs with short wheelbase. Having space in the cab to toss my junk will be great.
Putting in a new support bar for the shocks and tank.
The tank filler will be a tight fit.
Will probably add a gusset below the bar later when I'm making the shock mounts.
Custom exhaust consists of about the first 3 feet of the stock exhaust. I'll make a correct system when I upgrade to 2.5od
Got the chassis as low as possible
Awesome lift I borrowed from a neighbor.
it was a pretty tight fit but not bad... Still love that I put it on completely solo.
this is the difference in the rear cab mounts. Std cab frame, ext cab... cab.
This is before I dropped it all the way. the tank is now a slight pinch point. I may end up tossing 1" - 1-1/2" BL on just to simplify everything.
Lovin the stance. anyone have a fender for sale? I'm thinkin about putting 4WD ones on for the extra coverage. I've got 1-1/4" spacers up front.
Should get 5 feet out of the bed after I bob the front with some overhang off the back.
Plans for the immediate future are to sort out the body mounts and make the tank fit, then get the steering together, plug the engine bay crap back in, plum brake lines, sort out a front grill.
Hopefully I'll get to drive a toyota truck for the first time within the next month or so.

Put together a home-brewed 1-1/2" body lift after work today... I needed some height to clear the core support and gas tank. just 1" probably would have cleared but I figured why not toss a tad extra clearance while i'm at it.
Took 2" x 1/4" square stock, cut it to 1-1/2" and tacked it to the stock body pucks, then tacked a 2-1/4" x 1/8" washer to the top to get it round again. Picked up some 10mm x 5in bolts with lock nuts and slapped it together.
Cut the rear body mounts off my spare 2wd frame.
Jacked up the back of the cab and bolted the rear cab mounts to the cab and balanced out the cab and frame with the front.
...then i got stupid. No spray guard, no secondary grip, no gloves...
Cuttin nice and smooth, and then the grinder was out of my hands and in my lap
Pretty positive I hit bone. Might go get it looked at... haven't decided yet
