Thought I'd throw a little update up.
I haven't modded it in over a year now besides the shift knobs, but I have done some repairs.
I completely rebuild the front axle wheel bearings, pads, rotors, birfs rebuilt, knuckles etc.. inner axle seal went bad and completely filled the hubs with gear oil. GROSS.
Next the transmission input bearing went bad, so I've been working on that slowly. I also learned my 81 has an L52 from the factory. I've got a new clutch and pressure plate from MC, also replacing the pilot bearing, throwout bearing while I'm at it. Finally got the input bearing OUT yesterday.
Hopefully I can wrap this up in the next day or 2.
Hopefully next time around I'll have some more interesting things to show you. I've been brewing something up, but I haven't had time or funds to get started on it.

I really didn't want to add any more weight than necessary. I daily drive the truck, so I am really ready to not be on a mud terrain all the time, but I am moving towards a more built truck. This tire and wheel combo allows me accommodate 35s into my suspension plans, while gaining some of my road manners back.
After spending several weeks researching what wheels come in a 6x5.5, weigh less than 19 lbs, come in a 16x8 with a 0mm offset and are easily available without searching craigslist and Ebay incase I ruin one, I settled on the Konig Countersteers from FN Wheels.
Excellent customer service too.
The other option I considered was the TE37X, but the long wait times and high price kept me away. Maybe some day I'll move to forged wheel, but for now they just aren't in the budget.

Thanks,
How do you like the grabbers? I wanted them for a long time, but then I saw how much they weighed and it was going to be like an extra 10 lbs per wheel over the GYs which are already a heavy tire.

I like them. I was a little skeptical because they are heavy and not rated for snow. But to my surprise they were great in the snow this winter and didn't really seem to make that much of a difference when I switched from the trxus sts's as far as weight. If I was really worried about mileage I might not have traded my buddy for them, which was a factor for him. I would definitely get them again

Well, I redrilled my spring perches to move my axle forward an inch. Fixed my firewall clearance. I also finally put some tape down and fixed the front fender clearance that I originally cut for my old 35s. I only cut the minimum I needed to clear it before on purpose because I had no idea how I wanted to cut the fenders. This time I got out some tape to make a straight line and a measuring tape. I still took a minimalist approach, but this will work for now and it doesn't look terrible. Pictures to come.

Runs pretty rough and someone cut the springs to the point it is undrivable without ruining tires on the fenders. Full of potential though. Body is way clean for its age, original paint.
