WTB: 4Runner Hood Scoop Insert

Getting ready to graft a 4Runner Hood Scoop onto my '98 Tacoma and need the insert that fits in the opening of the scoop. Any help greatly appreciated!

Sorry for the delay in replying. Yep, I'll post some pics for sure. Truck is scheduled for paint and shop sometime in Dec.

Patsawasy - Do your remember how much you paid? Do you have the part numbers by chance?

Thanks alot!

it came somewhere out to 115 for all the inner scoop parts. theres a bunch of 3m looking tape seals and some rubber washers that i did not know you needed to buy. the guy who sold them to me was fairly simple minded and told me i needed them. i guess i should have known the dealer would hose me. i dont have the part numbers aymore, but if you go into the dealer, they can bring up a list for you. just make sure not to buy the rubber tape and washers. i just told them i needed the inner scoop assembly and they brought up the info

Here's a COMPLETE list. My opinion on this is...while you might not need all of them (it'll be kinda hard to figure out where everything goes) it's definately a plus to have it all installed and will minimize any problems later. My body shop had the brains to do it for me and did it totally OEM. The 3M tape helps so that no wind (noise) or water gets by and the rubber spacers help with noise too. You'll also need to have a way of installing the rivets, or using something else.

Before I get started, I'd like to mention that I got this from Evan at Northridge Toyota. He's a great guy and the prices are top notch (25% off list price). Check out his thread here on YT. All the prices are from him as of 11/28/05. So...Here we go:

Code:
Quan. Part # Description Price
(1) 76181-35901 (Hood Scoop Insert) $82.09
(1) 76182-35020 (Guide) $ 9.77
(1) 76192-35010 (Plate) $ 9.49
(2) 90269-04054 (Rivet) $ .43 (x2 = $ .86)
(4) 75567-21030 (Protector) $ .77 (x4 = $3.08)
(1) 90167-45005 (Screw) $ .52
(1) 76187-35010 (Retainer) $ .64
(4) 76183-12030 (Protector) $ .52 (x4 = $2.08)
(2) 76184-12020 (Protector) $ .52 (x2 = $1.04)
(1) 76185-35010 (Protector) $ 5.04
Sub-Total (Total w/o Tax): 114.61 for People outside of CA
Grand Total (Total w/ Tax): 124.06 for people in CA (me)

Here's some explanation on the items themselves:

The hood scoop insert is fairly obvious...it's the piece that goes into the hole in the hood. It'll be white and made of fiberglass I think (not sure, but it's strong). The guide is a black piece that goes into the "hood scoop insert" so that it looks black in there. The plate is the black screen mesh in front of the scoop. The rest is little hardware. The screw I believe holds the "plate" (mesh) in place (I'll have to check if that's true in the morning). The "rivets" hold the whole assembly together in a way and the "protectors" provide protection to noise and water as mentioned above. I don't remember what the retainer does...I'll look tomorrow and post with some pictures...that is, if I have time

Anyway, if you wanna go lowball you only need the insert, guide, plate and retainer but then you'll have to figure out installation yourself and it won't be OEM (people have done this).

Next option up is to get the screw (it's only a tiny small black screw you might be able to find in your garage - possibly not necessary) and rivets to ease with installation (if you have a way of getting the rivets in).

The best option is obviously to get everything and be worry free for a long long time.

Did I forget anything? Uhhhh..don't think so. Oh yeah, the insert will have to be painted where it'll be exposed, unless you wanna leave it white.

I think that's it. If you have any questions, let me know, I'll try to post up pictures soon.

Wow! Thank you so much for the detailed help! I will definitely give your Toyota guy a shot.

Thanks again!

EDIT: If you have time, some pics would be great. But, I totally understand if you're too busy. The graft will not take place until December. Thanks.
