1982 going to a daily driver(TIRE HELP)
Ok guys I did a search and did not find what I wanted. Also tires are changing rapidly. I have an 1982 is good condition, however I am running 33x12.50xr15 muds. I have 4.10 gears.
I just lost access to the 6,000 acre ranch I use my truck on. MUD is no longer in my future. I want to be driving the truck more on a daily basis to keep her up to snuff. So my thread here is about tires, tire size, and taking some strain off the truck.
I want to take some stress off my transmission, reduce noise, and increase on road enjoy-ability.
I am looking at Hankook ATM tires and I would like to go down to a 32 or min 31 - 11.50 or 10.50 .. At a min I would like to go to a 33x10.50 AT from the MT.
What do you guys think about the Hankook ATM? Any other thoughts out there besides BFG AT's? Anybody running these on or AT's on older trucks with a lift? Pictures and all your guys experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in Advance. Jeremy M

the smaller diameter tire, the less stress on the driveline, but the lower the top speed (for a given rpm). 31x10.5r15's are a common size and good with 4.10's
i'm daily-driving mine, and i use a 235x75r15, which is stock (4.10's as well). good mileage and loooww noise with bfg long trails

I daily drive my 86 with stock 4.10's and I run 30x9.50-15 Falken High Country AT's. They are nice and quiet, yet still work well off-road. Mine is an automatic and I don't know that I would want to go any larger with the stock gears but if I had a manual, I'd run 31's.
BTW, I've heard good things about the Hankook's as well. Some more discussion over here.
