3.4 swap with custom wiring idea.

I'm doing a 3.4 swap with a 97 4runner 3.4 into my runner.

I have the motor. all the wiring and ecu.

My idea though that i gotta get the rest of the parts for.

But im going to do a plug from the wires to the dash for the 3.4 into a plug that plugs into the dash harness in my dash. So it will not be spliced wires into the dash. Its going to be a direct plug in once i get my 3.4 in.

has anybody done this or seen this.

Will be using the 3.0 dash harness in the cab. and the motor side of the dash harness as well. Splicing that into the 3.4 dash harness. Plug in so all the wiring works. this is a test. im not sure 100% if this will work but everything ive looked at from cab to cab should work..

I will show bunch of pictures getting it done and ready.

Im going to my donor truck tomorrow cutting the plugs to the dash harness and cutting it all and im going to splice in a direct plug to plug from dash to wiring harness not any kind of splicing or half A**ing going on to it either. im going to have it a complete plug n play kind of deal. into the 3.0 dash harness.

All the wiring in the last 3.4 swap we did looked factory. Dozens of pins were swapped and everything works.

Is that what you mean?

I'm gonna take the dash harness of the engine ride of a 3.0. Wire that into the dash harness of THR 3.4. And have a plug n instead of splice to make work. Or maybe other way around 3.4 dash harness on both sides idk yet.

97 4Runner 3.4, ecu, motor harness into 95 4Runner
After repinning the harness it was plug and play. Looks like it came that way from the factory.

I think you are over thinking it

Yeah but the dash harness's dont connect so your sayung unplug the dash harness from the cab and replace it with the 3.4 one so it can plug in but just put pin placement in same place?

Yes it will if you repin and get the right plugs.

A is 3.4 motor harness

B is 3.4 ecu

C is your Toyota

Match the functionality of the wires (pins) A and B to those on your Toyota C by looking at the wiring diagrams and moving pins accordingly.

Been done dozens if not hundreds of times.
