3.0 auto to 3.4 swap questions
So, I got a cheap 3.4 motor with a bad crank, and I'd like to do the swap, I have to tools, but the thing is I have a 3.0 auto, has anyone ever did a swap to auto? What bell housing would I use ?

Just a warning...
I am a professional automotive technician I own a garage with 3 fulltime employees. I spent at least 15hours researching before I even started my swap. Here is the cost and rough time breakdown
Old motor out and on stand - 2-3hrs.
Pulled oil pan off both engines swapped dipstick mounts cut holes in Windage tray and new Oil pan gasket - 1hr
Exhaust crossover - 2-3hours (used 3.4 pipe and flipped it, reused heat shields and asbestos)
Valve covers timing belt and all the nic nack stuff like fuel lines 2-3hours. Fixed dipstick and plugged front dipstick hole. tune up, wires, Rear main seal front cam and crank seals.
Installed engine in 3.0 4runner bolted to 3.0 Auto transmission and installed most engine wiring, swapped power steering, AC pump, alternator, modded wiring to the alternator. rebuilt starter 4hrs
WIRING 3.4 to 3.0 Harness - 10hours (not all finished, working on AC and stuff) my engine runs not done with new transmission harness or swapping trans connections.
1" body lift with bumper brackets for engine clearance - 45minutes
Fixed battery harness and routed new Fuse box and COR connection - 1.5hrs.
Installed fan, Radiator, Heater hoses, belts, intake box made new battery tray, mounted EVAP box routed and connected 1/2 Evap lines 2hours
Still need rad hoses, misc hold downs for harness new exhaust but I cranked mine up and drove it out of the shop.
COsts -
4runner - 700.00
3.4 Engine - 200.00 (105K)
Hoses - 20
Harness - 200
PCM - 100
Exhaust and O2 sensors - 350
Body lift 95.00
AC comp, PS pump, Intake box, Alternator, Evap box - 175
Would I do this again now probably, a week ago no way. I figured if I hurried I could do the whole swap in 2 days wiring and all working 2 10hr days and using my employees to help with heavy lifting. Doing it on weekends and when I'm slow (rare at my shop) 5months. Though its only been 2 full Saturdays and a half day.
You will need 3.4 engine, manifolds and crossover, complete engine accessories, engine harness, all from 4wd Auto a T100 PCM 95-98 model.
The best harness is a t100 4wd with PCM. I can't remember all the little things I bought but its convenient to have delivery to my door from the parts guys. You have to swap the connectors from the 3.0 transmission controls and add a Customer 4 wire L1 relay to the 3.4 harness. or you won't have Low Range and none of the plugs match your current transmission.
read this write up 10-15 times and then start researching your model.
