Hi All,
I just transplanted myself from Seattle, WA to Henderson, NV. Something I noticed while driving here in the greater Las Vegas area is that people keep their car exteriors very clean.

I don't notice any of my neighbors washing their cars. So I don't want to break out the hose and be the FNG. Plus the water isn't as plentiful here as it is in WA. (Even though WA has a summer drought warning in effect)

So for all you folks that live in drought conditions, AZ, NM, NV or any other "desert climate" how do you keep you cars clean on the outside?

I'm thinking that people just do carwashes here but wax regularly? I have a black 4Runner and I'm highly allergic to paint scratches.

I also looked at waterless car wash products but still not sure how they would work or any potential side effects.

I did order some samples to experiment. Haven't heard of this one though. Thanks for the link!

Welcome to Vegas

Most of the time your vehicle will just get dusty more than anything unless you are driving thru construction areas here. The construction sites have to keep the areas sprayed down to control dust, that will give you some nice splatter jobs behind the wheels. The mud here drys to concrete in a day, so remember to spray off the underbody if you go play in it.
Your best defense against the dust is to get a car duster and just go over your truck every other day. Your 'runner is black, so I'd do it every day. They really work well here, and I got one at Walmart for $10. I can usually go 2 weeks without having to actually wash my truck here.

There is quite a lot of construction going on, isn't there?! Thanks for the advice. I have a car duster but never got to use it much in Seattle.

It seems like the local Chevron's have the touchless car washes which seem harmless enough.

Or if you choose to wash your truck yourself.....BE WARNED!!!!!.....you might be slapped with a fine from the Las Vegas Water Police....(no jokes!!!)

Considering that Las Vegas is in a serious drought right now......

The city of Las Vegas made it illegal to wash any vehicle in your driveway...
