its not plug and play, but the motor mounts are the same, and it will mount to the trans.

Do some research on the differences between the early 22R, and the later 22R

The oil pan and pick up (sump) are problems with putting early 22r's into the trucks.

The engines themselves will bolt right in, if the oil pan (and thus the sump) clear the front axle, hence the need to address those.

Once you get past that... you could end up with issues related to the intake (EFI vs. carbureted), ignition, and such.

Any 22r / 22re engine from 85 up should bolt in without issue, save for the oil pan / sump issues above (and little things like the distributor and fuel pump drive).
Early 22r / 22re engines may have problems being installed in later vehicles because of differences in water passages, bolts, studs, etc. on the intake, exhaust manifold and head changes....

a 22r is a 22r if your using the whole motor. take the 83 as a long block and hang all the externals on it from your truck and you should be good to go. By the way what is wrong with the motor in your truck. a quick rebuild is easy and not to expensive.
