Now coming from someone who cant weld (me ) I was going to piece together my own kit. By the time I payed my buddy to build and install the hangars and go the cheap route on shock mounts, ect I would have saved $200 if that to have a pieced together kit that might have problems going in. The whole ordeal is alot more expensive than you think.

I remember when I brought the swap up on the boards AxleIke had told me you will NEVER get away with spending only $2000 on a swap. He was extremely right and I didnt want to listen to him. I'm up to $3300 right now and another $250 will be going out to regear my rear and $800 for the install of the SAS because AxleIke was again right in saying I didnt have the knowledge to do it myself, nor do I have the facilities.

Just becareful my stuff added up real quick.

$650 for a new locked 4.88 third
$350 for 36" military tires
$550 for 5 16.5 - 6lug wheels to run those tires
$1000 TG Sas Kit
$200 in misc TG items like armor and studs and gussets
$600 TG rear lift so I didnt have an awsome front end and cheap ass rear

I'm sure come the end of July when its all done I wont regret it a bit because I love to wheel, and hard at that.

PS: I'm not doubting your fab skill.

I chose the kit for my '86. TG 4" front/5"rear kit, and 35's. As stated earlier. These companies have already done the R&D, they know what works with what.

I run 40s with 5" of lift. There is no reason to need 6" Springs and a 3" BL. Your rig is going to be stupid tall. Move the front axle forward and it help you from needing taller springs.

I am looking at maybe going with military 1-ton axles. I can put them under my truck for less than what I can put the toyota axle under it. With the 1-ton axles I wont have to regear the axles right away, plus the axles will be alot stronger. Where as with the toyota axles I would have to put in longfields to beef them up costing me alot more money. Then the cool factor of full size axles is awesome. There is nothing cooler than the stance of a toyota with full size axles under it.

I can get the axles wheels and tires for less than $1000. So I think I might come out cheaper going the full size route.
