'86 locking hubs on '83?

Will 1986 locking hubs fit a 1983? One of my hubs came apart. It's actually just the selector switch with the spring and gear on it that broke. Thanks

i think ifs hubs are like27 spline and sa are 31 or something like that not sure if they will swap, why not just swap the dials and hub clutch over to your 83 all parts should swap except the splined part attached to the axle

IFS Hubs will not work on the SA trucks. Not sure on individual parts though.

it should all be the same except for the splines, everything else including the hub body should be interchangeable

Think sky manufacture or FROR sales a kit to use the IFS hubs on the SA axle. There is a difference in the body height and spline count, as previously mentioned.

You just need to search "the truth is out there," been watching all seasons of X-files on netflix :-)

The short answer is no. The dials are different but the same. SFA dials have a curved dial face (side view) IFS dials have a flat dialed face (side view) and are interchangeable as far as function is concerned. The big springs are the same on just about any Aisin manual hub that I've seen. The hub gears are NOT the same as they are splined differently and NOT interchangeable SFA to IFS.

Sorry, but this is not true.

It is not all the same and not all interchangeable.
