casey you gotta go!

stop by my house on your way up. we can convoy over there. anybody taht is passing through on the 5 to the 405 to the 101, we can meet up before.

casey, if you're interested, we can just jump on PCH north and take the scenic route going up there. but that would take probably an hour longer

Guys,

The confirmed attendee list has grown by 1! JD (Surfrig) confirmed this week.

My friend Bong (no, not what you're thinking!) sent me pics of his sweet Xterra w/ a word doc of all the mods he's done on his X. It's friggin awesome! Check out the Pismo 4RJ page.

Bob

Why? The truck is more comfortable and you'll have to lay closer to her.

hm... tru. although i take up the entire space because i kinda need to sleep on the bottom part of the matress because the top part is covering my amps and it goes to an uncomfortable incline.

well my friend kinda finalized the orgainization of my car tonight... there is a matress with my flourescent light hanging in my car (4 footer, it's great!) powered off my power inverter when i need it. i figured why not sleep in it tonight! so that's what i'm doing. sleeping in my car, in the garage.

does anybody know how close we will be to fast food places? I'm bringing MREs along just incase

I could totally do this entire camp trip without any outside help such as fast food resturants or hotels.

fun fun!

I think there are fast food places and gas stations within 5 miles. Depending where we set up camp, it will be a few miles to get off the beach, then a straight shot down the road (Steve will know the name of the road) out of the park.

From what I understand, you and I will be okay as long as we maintain our speed and not give the sand a chance to grab on to our tires and suck us down

I guess we'll just get there and find out, huh?

Have you seen the pic of the itty-bitty Civic stuck in the sand yet? It's in one of the links from the page. Pretty funny...

I think 2wd should be ok, but you will be limited in what you can do. You won't be winning any hill climbs. It's all about airing down. Our sandmaster said 4wd should be at 8-9psi and 2wd should be even lower.

Hey 2wd guys...do you have a front tow hook? If not, then I'd recommend you go buy one. EVERYBODY should have a tow strap. No metal hooks.

Hey Tom and Bob, maybe we should go back to SLO and do another scouting trip but experiment with air pressure and 2wd?

Lower than 8-9?
Wow.

I saw a recovery winch at Costco (anyone know what I'm talking about?), is that any good?
As far as tow hooks - you're talking about that single stock hook, right? Nothing aftermarket?

Thanks!

i think he means just a solid rope basicly, no metal hooks, so no, the winch wouldnt work

It shouldn't. The easiest way to break a bead is to turn sharp and roll the tire off the rim. Just don't turn sharp. My friend (the sand master) has been known to go down to 2psi.

L33 is right, just a strap with no hooks. do a search here and you'll find a pretty good discussion on the type of strap to get. No need for a winch or a come-a-long.
