Need help/info on planing a trip from NC to MI to WI then back to NC

Hey, I figured this would be the best place to post this, if not mod's please move to the right section, thanks!

Name is Jared, I am trying to plan trip from:
Forest City North Carolina
to
Charlevoix, Michigan
to
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (not taking the fairy across lake MI going up and over)
then back to Forest City NC

I am going to avoid highways at all cost. I went to Google maps and selected the "Avoid Highway's" option. I can "Detour" a few hours for camping or trails.
NC to MI is 884 mi – about 18 hours 56 mins
MI to WI is 422 mi – about 9 hours 49 mins
WI to NC is 802 mi – about 18 hours 22 mins

My rig is a 84 SWB 20R .020 over on everything (0mile right now), 38/38 Weber, 4.37 gears, 37/12.50/15 old style GoodYear MTR's, Dual transfer case with triple sticks.

I have family from WI visiting there family in MI so I want to travel up in June and meet them in MI and then head up and over to Wisconsin after staying in MI a few days. I would like to know of any 4x4 parks/camping on my way from NC to MI, then at least one from MI to WI. I want to make the NC to MI trip last 3-5 days stopping to camp 2-3 times. Also, after I am done visiting in WI for a a week or two I will be going from MI back to NC again avoiding highways. I may not be going by myself, If I get a decent trip planned a few other local toyota buddies will tag along in their rigs.

If anyone want's to tag along they are more then welcome to!

Here is a copy of the route:

Looking at the west side of In near the bottom and heading north... you have Interlake kinda between Princeton and Jasper... it looks to be a decent little park that is actually free... then just south of Terre Haute there is Redbird... it is decent but not free Interlake and Redbird are both old strip mines The best would be up in Attica by Lafayette... Badlands You have probabilly heard of it i think it is rated one of the top 10 parks in the US I might be interested in showing up if you plan on going to any of these 3...
