'86 4x4 SFA?

Question #1: Is it possible for an '86 model to be totally stock and have a solid front axle?

A guy near me is advertising an '86 ex-cab/4x4/turbo/auto trans on craigslist. I called, he says it's stock and has a solid front axle

Question #2: There's 3,200 miles on a 'new' 22ret motor, 6mo old paint, and AT tires with 90% tread. Asking $4500, a little high?

It's about a 45min drive, bout to head out. Any opinions welcomed.

I did ask if there had been a SAS, he didn't know. He was 'fairly certain' the suspension was stock.

85 was the last year of factor solid front axles as far as i know, sounds like the guy doesn't know a whole lot about the truck, still worth a 45 min drive to go check it out. prices vary by area but around here that would be a good deal esp if it has a solid front axle im having trouble even finding a solid axle truck that is undriveable for less than 1100 bucks. a real clean truck of that year would fetch 5-6k here

it's possible I believe but only if it were a non-us diesel truck? I could be wrong though, but I know factory SFA 89+ exists.

It's IFS, the guy doesn't know what he's got. Runs great, no A/C though and fresh black paint, ain't a good combo in south Louisiana summers. No exhaust mani gasket, used red sealant, how long will that last?

lol till you get home with it.

4500 for an IFS 86 isn't worth it IMO. And who knows what else is rigged on that thing with RTV lol.

Was it at least a turbo engine?

yep, was turbo. And had thick rust sludge in the radiator. I think I'll pass on it. I might consider it more if I didn't have my '85 already.
