A poll sounds good Gene.
I wil let you know now I dig the middle one as it includes trucks & 4Runners.
We must not leave them out now.
As long as NATO doesn't try and say something.
I'd hate to have one of these roll up to my front door some morning

4ROC
4ROC sounds like a winner to me. It sounds T O U G H !! I don't think any of us care how much whining the Xterra group guys will do over the name. We can just consider the source - they did buy Xterra's didn't they???

I agree with you on the side note and thought about it afterwards. Maybe
4RTA; 4-RUNNER & TRUCK ASC. Hopefully
that would cover everyone who wanted to join. However 4-ROC is good with me
too.

Yes, I like that name too.
TLCA only has the name Land Cruiser in it, but it includes all Toyota SUVs & trucks.
The name 4ROC is very bold sounding.
I smell a poll coming out of this.
Now the big ? is how are we going to set this up?
It will have to be a person that knows their way around the bizz, and would be able to set up a secure web site if we get into offering hats, T shirts, stickers, ect.
Very much like TLCA does.
Only thing that makes me nervous about their site is it is not secure for online transactions
You would think it would be, but it's not.
There is no secure page when you input your CC info to join, or to purchace any merchandise from them.

Hey Corey, for selling product online, I would think about using these folks;
http://www.cafepress.com
WATTORA uses them and I have purchased several items;

Thoughts?

OK, I still like these two names:
4ROC: 4Runner Owner's Club
NATTO: National Association of Toyota Truck Owners
4ROC sounds like it's ready to rock & roll, a very catchy name
But, it doesn't include the trucks in the name.
Whatever we go with, how are we going to get this off the ground?
Someone will also have to pay for a domain name, then host it, pretty much like I do with my pnw4runners.net account.
I'd really like to see this happen.
Who ever takes this up to host the website must realize they will also need to come up with a way as Gene suggested for eComerce on the site to buy stickers, hats, etc.
So who will step up to bat for us?

I guess I need to ask again what the point of this club would be. Some of the suggested names include trucks and cruisers. Cruisers already have a club, as do tacomas... I thought the initial plan was to have a club similar to ttora and tlca but for 4runners. If that's the case... why are we considering names that include trucks and cruisers? Sure, the minis don't get their own club, but they are basically tacos anyways, right?
Also, if we use the word national in the acronym somewhere, then our UK/Austrailia brethren are excluded. I realize we would include them despite the name, but perhaps the name should be more appropriate.
So, here are the names we are currently throwing around:
- 4ROC: 4Runner Owner's Club
- 4RTA: 4Runner Toyota Assoc.
- NATTO: National Association of Toyota Truck Owners
- 4RORA: 4Runner Off-Road Association
- FORAY: 4Runner Association
I like 4ROC... would look good on stickers and tshirst and suck, sounds good, easy to remember, short and sweet, etc. I don't like 4rta... no flow, no flair... not catchy. NATTO... I've already commented on the use of national and truck in the name. 4RORA... not bad, not good. THis one has off-road in the name... is this club an off-road club exclusively? Are we taking members who lower and make street mods to their rigs? FORAY... I immediately think "foreplay"... take it for what it's worth, but I don't like it (the name, not foreplay).
So as it stands... I like 4ROC.

You bring up some good points here Jackson.
Yes, the minis could very well be included with TTORA.
Made me ponder on the suggestions you brought up here which are all good, and I do like the 4ROC name.
Now all we gotta do is get to the ballpark with this.

Hey, I'm new to 4-Runners, new to any car actually, my first (and only so far) car being a black 94 4runner v6 5speed. I've had it for about a month and ive been looking online everywhere for mods and tips and stuff... It'd be really great to have all this info in one spot. I think the name 4ROC is pretty cool and catchy... any requirements for joining? im not too shabby with the HTML, VB, JAVA or anything relating to computers, so i could help in that area

yeah, 4ROC sounds tight. and as for the truck inclusion issue, we could make it a point of stressing that they're welcome too, like on the website, or when we talk about it. or in a club slogan or something like that. but afterall, it is going to be mostly 4runners right?

Are Canadians permitted? My vote is for 4ROC as well, what a great name/acronym.
Gene: I may have missed it but any news on membership fees, other details, etc. yet?

While I can't speek for everyone, it seems the general opinion is that this will be an international club. We've got a lot of people from canada, the UK, and some aussies I think... the more the merrier.
OK... I checked 4roc.com - taken. So, we can go with 4roc.net (or .org), but then people have to know the site is .net or .org or whatever... if they type in .com they won't get us. So, what about 4ROConline.com? I've been playing around with some sticker/logo ideas... got one simple, cheap design, still working on more though. This one would be very easy/cheap to produce for stickers, t-˟˟˟˟s etc. as it's only 2 colors. And we could change the color to suit us as necessary, it's just a background color and a font color basically.
ARRRGH! why the hell can't I get pics to post in threads lately?!??! oh well, guess you'll have to use the link.
thoughts? opinions?

I like 4Roc.net better than 4roconline.com.
I ran a whois query on 4roc.com, we could always contact the guy to see if he would sell it as he may not be using it. This information is the public domain; however I will not post his info here. Anyway, here is the creation/expiration info.
Domain Name.......... 4roc.com
Creation Date........ 2001-04-02
Registration Date.... 2001-04-02
Expiry Date.......... 2003-04-02
