Trail Ready Bumper

Well guys & galls I just got done talking to the guys up here at Trail Ready and I have pictures of their FJ Bumper.

Front view of standard bumper

View with brush guard

One interesting aspect I like is how they kept it's profile not so tall and still protect the bottom of the radiator area.

This FJ (not mine) did not have the OME front skid plate so once mine is ready we might make an adjustement or two.

View from the top without the brush guard.

Since I'm basically getting the first production one it will still be about 4 to 6 weeks but I was told their first lot will be 20 to 40 units.

I can't wait

Please post pics of how they did their light buckets and light mounts behind the bumper. I'm curious about how they do that.

I don't have access to take pics because that isn't my FJ and the prototype was shipped out to get reverse engineered. I plan on taking pics of mine as they are installing it as soon as it gets here.

They laser cut the hole and literally weld in a piece of tubing the correct diameter and length. The bracket varies do to the different lights. Sometimes is a slot in the tube or a tab welded on to the end and I think I've seen a version with three screws on the back side instead of the tube.

That is very very nice!

Do you mind if I use the first two for the FAQ thread?
https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f135/modifications-accessories-faq-fj-cruiser-104040/

I would like to put your final bumper up later instead to replace them.

I see they have an URL too.

Did you go with the hoop, or hoopless?

Absolutely!

Since I'm suseptable to old Murphy I'm getting the brush guard that way I'll never run into anything that would every touch the lights. If I don't get it they'll get crunched for sure.

Larry gave me permission to post prices so;

Cost $950 basic & $1050 /w brush guard. Colors ? what ever powder coat colors are available. Price includes powder coat but no lights. They will install if you supply them.

Not exactly sure on the weight but it's not more then 100 pounds. It wasn't that heavy when I was fondling it yesterday

All plate is 1/8 inch and brackets are 1/4 inch steel - their standard.

They haven't added it to their web yet. the silver FJ got one without the brush guard (its' just sitting on there in the pic) and they want to use mine to show both configurations.

I'm also having them add a set of 2" light pods so I can move my DRL lights off the mains.

Now I'll have two trucks on the TrailReady site

Thanks, pics will be up after I watch the rest of 24

Good choice on the hoops.
The ARB has them, and for good reason, they provide more protection.

If you are thinking about ordering one, don't get it powder coated by them. The PC on my rear bumper on my Jeep sucks, gets scratched way to easily. Save yourself the frustration. Other than that they make great products.

When did you buy your bumper? I do know at one time Trail Ready and Road Armor were the same company and have since gone seperate ways. Don't ask me for details because I don't know and don't need to know.

What I do know is Trail Ready now uses Craig Craft PCI (Powder Coating Inc)in Mulilteo.

I would be very interested in what you find out about a rear bumper.

The ARB one who knows when it will be out, and the Warn one is due out any day now.

If Trail Readys turns out nicer than the Warn, I may be up for that.
What would be important too is if the backup sensors and factory hitch will work with it.
The Warn one does, one thing I like about it.

It comes in black crinkle paint though, does not match the ARB black powdercoat so well.

I don't want to sound stupid, but even with the bumper protecting the grill the way it is, if you hit something dead center with enough speed, won't you just cram your winch into the front grill/radiator?

I think you could drastically reduce the likely hood of that scenario by replacing the roller fairlead with an aluminum one.

Well you can't see the bracket that holds both the bumper and the winch. You can kind of see that the fairleads are not really on the outside of the bumper they are mounted on the 1/4 inch steel the makes up the internal structure and mounts to the frame.

If you hit something fast enough to deform that bumper where the winch is, the radiator is the last thing you will be worrying about if you actually live through it that is.

I tagged a bolder about 5 feet in diameter on the corner of the bumper on my Suburban hard enough to roll the rock and lift my left front tire off the ground. I thought for sure I had some major damage but after winching the beast back off the rock all I had was a ding in the bumper shell which I wear proudly

The first question I asked about the rear bumper was the backup sensor compatibility. I was told that is defiantly going to be incorporated and is already in many of their later model designs because many vehicles come with the sensors now.
